Hi,

I went to Costco today to buy winter package(tire + rim).
They had tires(Micelline Alpine PA3, 215/60R16) and rim(Steel 16"), but the mechanic said against the down sized rim for my 2006 sonata lx(v6, 225/50R17). He said that the big break caliper will rub costco's 16" steel universial rim.
Does anyone have installed 16" steel rim(universial) on lx?

How about buying OEM 16" steel rim from dealership instead of buying from costco?

Thanks for your recomendation in advance.

The 4 cyl Sonata's come with 16" steel with hubcaps from the factory. Did the mechanic actually try one to see if it fit or just said it wouldn't? Unless you can get a set of take offs cheap, it might be cheaper to get aftermarket alloys from somewhere like Tirerack. Check some local junkyards and don't foregt about ebay. My 16" Tiburon alloys were only $100 for all 4 which fit perfectly for my sumer tires and let me use the steelies with caps for winter.

Here ya go, current listing from ebay set of 4 Tiburon rims

Steel with caps from Tirerack as reference $55 each per rim plus $32 for the 4 caps and the shipping to you. Tirerack steel rims
