Hey everyone, alright so I have a 2003 tibby gt v6 and deciding on whether to sav for a CAI or just go with a short ram intake (I think that's what is). I'm not necissarily looking for tons more power, but some what of a boost along with better gas milage. I hear the short ram is cheaper and is easier to clean, especially since I'm in more of a wet climate, with the down fall of just losing maybe a few hp. So for the moment that is my top choice but I'm not positive. Do you think that should be my choice? Or should i rethink it and save for the CAI?

Dear Canon,

You get a measurable torque gain with the CAI. Yes, the SRI filter is easier to clean and cheaper but you do have more under hood induction noise.

Another consideration that is more readily apparent on engines 1.6 liter or smaller engines is the response time when you go to Wide Open throttle. The moving column of air in a CAI takes a little longer to accelerate (won't go into Newton's Laws of Motion here ) than the SRI.

also if you live in a really wet place you CAI could start to suck in water, which is not very good, now dont get me wrong your not going to drive throught one puddle and blow your motor but over time it could suck some water in...another thing too i put a SRI on my V6 tib and it did not help my gas at all, in fact i burn even more now because it make such a cool sound when you floor it

haha i have that same problem. especially with a borla cat back... the borla sounds great in low RPMS and the SRI sounds louder in the high RPMS, so there goes all my gas
