I wanted to get headers and and exhaust system for my 2007 Hyundai Accent GS Hatchback and came across kfx and evofusion. I was reading around this forum for the cat back from EVO and it seems it won't fit on my vehicle according to bloodninja's post who has the 2008 accent 2dr. It's safe to assume if it won't fit on the '08 it won't fit on the '07... I guess I'll go custom exhaust too. Why isn't EVO doing anything about this. It clearly says on their site the cat back is for 2000-2008 Accents.

For the headers I was looking at EVO but it seems it stops at '05 Accent. Will the EVO headers still fit on the '07? I emailed EVO about the headers and they said the '07 Accent doesn't have enough room for the headers. Doesn't the '05 and the '07 have the same engine size 1.6L? Were they just saying this to be on the safe side 'cause the vehicle year is different?

So I searched some more and saw Komptek's post for the KFX headers. I went to the KFX website and its says "2006 and up" for the headers. But seems like there's a slight problem installing this header, so some questions regarding Komptek's post from:

http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t30361-kfx-header-diy.htm

(I'm not really mechanically inclined so this is hard to understand)
1. What is this connection end that needs to be grinded to 2-3mm to CAT. Is this for installing the catalytic converter to the pipe.
2. What size bolt is it, how many and do I need any washers or lock washers?
3. I'm just lost with this welding thing.

If I went to a shop and just gave them the KFX headers without saying anything but "Can you install this?". Will they know what to do?

Thanks.

Good call on not getting the exhaust from them. They were really shady about it too. I mean, they gave my money back, but they kept making excuses and coming up with stories like "I don't understand why it doesn't work. We've sold this exhaust to other 08 owners and they've had no problems". LIES. The 08 is the same as the 07 and the 06. And I HIGHLY DOUBT it works for those two years either, since it's the same generation. And it's 100% Stainless. NOT 304, so it can't even be welded, unless someone has very VERY expensive welding equipment.

As for the headers, I think you're much better off going with KFX. Just play it safe. Assume that since EVO doesn't even know that their exhaust doesn't fit our Generation of Accents, that most likely, headers they SAY won't fit, DEFINITELY will not fit. They didn't try to be on the safe side with the exhaust, so I doubt that's what they're trying to do with the headers.

To clarify about the headers:

The only modifications needed are the following:

1) You need to make the holes where the bolts go through WIDER because they don't otherwise fit at the right angle (I believe that is the case).

2) With your STOCK exhaust manifold, there are 2 O2 sensors. When you install the header, you have to remove BOTH sensors.
After you put the headers on, you will need to put the FIRST O2 sensor on the header itself (I believe). You will then need to have the wires for the SECOND O2 sensor made longer so it can reach down to the underside of your car. The CAT is the small (about a foot long) round thing in the center-bottom-front of your car. You will see it if you lay down next to your car near the middle and look under it.
You will need to have the SECOND O2 sensor welded to the pipe AFTER the CAT.
That way, your car will say "Hey, the CAT is doing what it's supposed to do!" Because it gets a before-and-after reading of the exhaust

Hope that helps

Ah yes. That clarifies it much better. But what about this bolt size... Its a shop I guess. I'm sure they'll have the tools, nuts and bolts. I'll leave it to them. Thanks for clearing this up and for the quick reply.

also the headers from evofusion do not work because u need smaller aftermarket fans and the downpipe wont fit.

Go to any NAPA or auto parts store, they will have exhaust bolts and nuts. About 3" in length. As for the second O2, Just get a shop to weld in a O2 sensor bung after the second Cat and extend your wire like described. Yah the bolt holes don't really need to be widened, more like narrowed. The holes are large enough, just that the are spaced wider than the OEM Cat bolt holes. If you went with an aftermarket Cat as well I imagine it would fix the issue but that a lot of extra cost, easier just to grind it. Might be a good choice to get the welder to do this as well.

Not to mention in the United States, it's illegal to replace a catalytic converter on a new car if it is still working properly.

But I'd still put a high-flow cat on if I had the money.
