I have a 4 cyl. automatic. I get a vibration or booming sound in the 40-45mph (65kmpH-75kmph) range.

I know there is a TSB on this, but has anybody had the service of reprogramming the transmission done and has it resolved the problem.

My dealer here in Ontario, Canada performed the reprogramming but there has been no change.

I'd like to think that it is not the nature of the beast, but just an incorrect repair by the dealer.

Please let me know your experiences.

Dain,
sorry for the late reply you were bumped down the page. Some have had it done and gotten good results. Maybe your dealer didn't do it right. I'd take it back and have them do it again.

Hopefully those who had it done will chime in here for you.

Thanks for the response. I have rebooked with the dealer, but just wanted to be sure I wasn't sending them off again to do something that just doesn't have results.

My dealer called it a tranny shudder between 38 and 42 mph.
His quick computer fix worked fine with no recurrance.

Babstude : Check under the TSB listings by Madhatter.
The TSB 08-AT-007 is for U.S. cars, but my dealer checked it out and found the Canadian version which is 08-36-005.

chiming in.

If that shudder/vibration is cause by the torque convertor locking in, as was mine - the TSB fix resolved it completely. read the attached threads:

They probably used the US version on your Sonata. Didn't quite make it did it?  Costs extra for the Canadian software. :w00t:

Thanks to those who gave me input. I went back to the dealer and the service manager wanted to go with me on a ride so he could hear and feel exactly what I was talking about. After the ride he got personnaly involved, took the computer and set up the car himself. Seems the tech had done 1/2 of the program but missed the 2nd part.

Tech came out and apologised for messing up and the problem is now solved.

Good dealer and willing to take the time to sort out the problem.
