I just got a call from a shop that my car needs a rear suspension arm while they're replacing its timing belt. they already ordered the part via hyundai dealership for $180. (I'm not even going to discuss how much for the labor. they're still waiting for the part to be delievered, but I'd like to know if anybody had a similar situation where your car needed a rear suspension arm replaced. and I'd like to know how much it cost for you. also, if $180 sounds about right from a dealership, is there another way to get it cheaper oem part, such as online company?

hello, people. I'm updating my current situation with the rear suspension arm. (actually, this was resolved about 10 days ago, but I couldn't update any sooner)
I found out that other dealerships charge $130 as that's the msrp price; one online company charged $80 as oem part. but since I couldn't wait for like a week or so from an online purchase, I stopped by another nearby dealership and bought the part for $130. ($140 after tax)
it was an ordeal dealing with the shop as they wouldn't accept my part, even though I bought it from hyundai dealership. (instead they would only take the job if I accept their part for $180) nevertheless, they accepted the part that I bought, and got the job done.
I strongly recommend shopping around for the part's pricing, otherwise I could have spent extra $40. (if I was a bit patient, I would've saved $100 via online purchase)
personally, I think that the shop was just trying to make few more extra money off of the part. (from my personal experience, that's why the shop usually prefers to buy the parts themselves)
by the way, my car is '02 and it's about 69k miles now. (67k miles then)

Has anyone ever seen this knife before and can it really be used on a bayonet? It is said that it can fit together with a AK47 rifle. Maybe it is a copy of some old military knife that was used back in one of the wars? The website that it is on is www.lducompany.com I am wondering if it can fit on any other types of guns or rifles. Does it look like something that would be used by Chinese, Koreans, or Russians. Here is a link to the knives page http://www.liangdianup.com/knives_1.htm and it is the knife with the number 406023 right at the top of the page.Any help would be appreciated before I order it all the way from China :)

just want to be cleared one thing. the part that I bought and the part that the shop bought previously are the same oem(factory) parts. (they are the parts that you buy from any hyundai dealership)
difference is that the shop has no receipt or so they say, and I do, in which I can use it to have it returned in case the part is defective or something.
also, the part that I found online is also oem part, so in case anything's wrong with it, it can also be returned as well. (they are only charging msrp price + 10-15% discount-but the same oem part)
I'm not sure if I could've gotten better deal from autozone, but I thought that factory parts were necessary for this repair. (like I said, if I were a bit more patient, I could've saved about $100-getting an oem part)

Dear 02,
Yes, repair shops absolutely have 20-30% markup on part that they order. Sometimes 40%.
Also, they hate to provide a written quote with parts shown seperately...because people like you price this elsewhere and always get a better price. Yep, they probably made you sign a waiver that they warranted only their labor but had NOOOO reponsibility for that part. All part of the twist-your-arm tactics to seperate you from your wallet.
BRAVO for standing your ground.

well, I had a few choice when I had the estimate. one, look elsewhere and search for a better quote. or, just go ahead with the estimate. better yet, since I trusted their work, I decided to just ask if the shop would allow me to buy the part seperately. (I only asked it because I knew the part doesn't cost $180-just wasn't sure how much exactly) and, as you may already know, some shops don't allow customers to buy the part and void the warranty. (fortunately, for me, the shop's ok with it) it's just that they gave me a hard time after I bought the part when they were very cooperative in the beginning.
I'm not sure if this is worth it going through such a hassel with the shop. (and possibly ruining the trust that I've built with the shop) but that was the choice I made, and saved myself $55. (wasn't much, but I stood corrected)
