This is really a trivial concern, but theoretically the 4.6 has been available in this country for what - 3 weeks now? There are hundreds theoretically available on autotrader, but of all of them, for all 3+ weeks, there isn't a single one with a real photo of the car. I'm just cruising for pics of the 4.6's wheels and interior shots. It seems pretty weird to me that not a single dealer anywhere in the country sees any point in photographing their top of the line model. Anybody know what gives? Are the 4.6s actually here and we've just witnessed a bizarre nationwide surge of apathy for winning strategies in car sales? Or are they just allocated, and still "theoretical" on the dealer lots? Hm...

Of all of the 4.6s that should now be in this country, and in the face of huge investments by Hyundai for development, production, transportation and marketing for the car, as well as a crumbling economy that will cripple sales of even the most vaunted and well-established brands, the only Hyundai dealership in the land that could be bothered to snap a photo of a 4.6 (at least on autotrader.com, among almost 1000 4.6s that are currently listed) is one called "Peninsula Dodge Hyundai" in Redwood City, CA. And those guys only took a single shot of each of 3 vehicles. No close-ups, no interior pics, no glamour shots. Just inauspicious quarter-shots out on the lot. The sweeping, ubiquitous apathy towards this model and its highlights and distinctions as contrasted with the 3.8 is truly staggering, but not in the least surprising from Hyundai sales. The Hyundai dealership sales managers' apparent perception of their jobs: Let's get our brand new, top-of-the-line flagship model, the product of hundreds of millions of dollars of state of the art, new from the ground up engineering, and the cornerstone to an upmarket push for the entire company that would lead to greater sales, greater premiums and commissions, higher brand recognition and brand equity, further models and higher price tags, and summarily ignore it. Ignoring the Azera seems to have worked so darned well... they should do it again. Q.E.D. Job well done. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=252638934

They broke their maiden wiith the Azera and perfected it with the Genesis! As I posted before when you compare it with the A4 G35 TL it is the most expensive even in the V6 and without the reputation of the other makes. Truly it makes me wonder what they think up there in lalamarketing land.

QUOTE(lovemysantafe @ Oct 13 2008, 02:38 AM) Such positive remarks... My dealer has a 4.6 right now. It was out on the lot but now it's in the showroom. I would go get a picture to prove they are indeed stateside but I don't want to get attacked. They've had theirs for about a month now.
Wish that it were different, but unfortunately this is the reality. :( :(

LOL... so it is, you're sure to be mauled. I thought about that myself, going and getting some photos. I know the 4.6s are HERE, I'm just frustrated on behalf of Hyundai. These guys have relatively straightforward jobs and one very easy and essentially formulaic means to sell cars quickly in 2008 is taking lots of very pretty photos of a very clean car, and posting them on the web. My local dealer group has an entire "department" of 2 or 3 full time staff dedicated to internet sales! And for as many 4.6s as there theoretically are in this country already, among literally hundreds of distinct dealerships, nobody but nobody could be bothered to do this for a single 4.6 in over a month. If I was a marketing exec at Hyundai U.S., especially Korea, I'd strap on my arse kicking boots and go for a walk... :57: Isn't it odd that I'm feeling indignation on behalf of the car company? Anyone else in on this? Does it not sound like common sense?

I just spoke with a sales manager at my local dealership, and was told explicitly and clearly, "We don't have any 4.6s, they haven't even started producing the 4.6 yet... there's no plans for us to receive any, no time frame." :w00t:
I casually asserted that there are hundreds listed for sale in the U.S., that they began importing them over a month ago, that many members on the forum have already test-driven 4.6s... Why am I telling him this? It's almost like watching a dreadfully bad performance of an otherwise good play; very awkward, skipped lines, stalls in the speeches, blatant stage production problems all over. You kinda feel bad for the people up on stage.
When I called about the 3.8 after it first came out, a salesman told me the same thing: "we don't have one, no plans or timeframe to get a Genesis...". Then someone in internet sales team calls me LATER THAT DAY and says, "Oh yes, we have one, just got it yesterday. Come in to drive it tomorrow." Of course, I went in the next day and they still hadn't prepped it, so I couldn't drive it.
None of this inspires confidence.
Who wants to bet me that I could drive down there and find a 4.6 on the lot? Any takers?

QUOTE(LilBean @ Oct 13 2008, 02:10 PM) Hmmm... would you like me to go take a picture of it as proof? It's out on the back lot, I promise we have it... lol. I drooled all over it last Thursday.
Yeah, that would be great... take a nice big photo shoot, focusing on the engine bay... I'll email it to my dealership to encourage a little more in-depth fact checking.
