thnaks for the response.
But I've only had the car since june 2008. So i've had two oil changes both times the vehicle has been low. Have you heard of this before, Its all hwy driving. and both oil changes the oil has been low. could it be because of the high revs on the hwy.

Check it before carrying it in for the next oil change to see if it is losing gradually ,or if their not filling it completely.

Not, that's not normal. How much oil are you putting in it? Engine holds 3.5 liters of oil. Notice any blue smoke when you first start the car when it's cold?

No I haven't noticed any blue smoke. Could it be because of the highway driving and high revs on the highway.
Remember the engine rev high at 120-130 km/hr 3500- 4000 rpm.

Nah wouldn't be the highway driving. I do 70 miles a day all highway and I don't have this issue.

After your oil change, are you checking the oil level after you have warmed the oil up and let it settled back down into the pan? the reason I ask is I was reading the other day how the oil level is lower when the oil is cold. Also the oil filter stores some amount of oil, so after a start it it would show lower levels of oil then before it had been circulated. I would assume.

not common at all. Let the engine run a minute or 2 after filling the oil and check it. If you are putting in enough oil, you may have a leak somewhere. I know of a few oil temp sensors that have been loose. Also, if you have been doing your own oil changes, and you go to a dealership to check this out, don't be surprised if you get a bill, especially if they don't find anything wrong.

I have 6,000 miles on my 08 Accent GLS with a 5spd. I baby the car and do not run it strong. I drive 90% hwy at 65 mph. I have had to add a quart and a half over the 6,000 miles to keep it at the appropriate level.

Either your rings aren't sealing or your possibly sucking it up gradualy through a faulty PCV or something.
I'd definately have it checked out as soon as possible.
To check the PCV simply unhook the end of the hose right at the intake line .If there is visible oil present it could be stuck open, also you can pull it out and see if it rattles.(It is supposed to).

I checked the PCV and no oil is present. I don't know if I should go to the dealer or not. I do not want them to charge me for a checkup to say nothing is wrong. I unfortunately owned a Ford once and was burning through a quart every 1,000 miles. The Ford dealer said that there was nothing they could do because they consider anything less than a quart every 500 miles was normal.
That was the last american car I owned. I have owned 16 different cars (all but 3 were Honda and Toyota) and none of the other cars I owned ever lost more than 1/3 quart between oil changes and most of those had over 100K miles on them.

Most makers consider some oil use normal, but each differs on a set amount.

Matt since your car is under warranty you would not be charged for a possible warranty issue, plus you'd have a written receipt that you did address it if problems should arise later.

Are you guys checking the oil frequently? I check mine every week until the car hits 7-8000 miles to see if it's using any oil after that time I can judge what it's doing. Also neither of you mention if there are any oil leaks/drips where you park.

I just hit 6k and have not had to add any oil and I'm known for WOT. I do not change my own oil, I use the quick lubes but stand in front and watch their every move :whistling:

Ray,
No drips or smoke. I just changed it for the first time last week but check it about every other week (1,000 miles). I wasn't sure if they would charge me to look at it if they could not find anything. I have had other dealers for my other cars I have owned charge even when under warranty if they could not get the car to do what I claimed (noise, etc..).

Also not to get off topic but, while changing my oil, I found weird filter issues. The FRAM oil filter for this car (I like the Fram because of the grip on the end) costs $8 (normally $3-4 for most cars). My 00 Honda Odyssey has a different part number for the Fram and cost $3.50. I purchased a Bosch filter ($4.50) for my Accent which usually costs more than the Fram and it had the same part number as the Odyssey. I could not see a visual difference between the two part numbers for the Fram but the filter for the Accent definitely costs more.
