Hi.! i have Hyundai Santro Club Gv only 8k on the meter and the problem with my car is that both of its front rims get extremely hot after about 5 miles of driving.

I took it to the dealer, they checked everything, but could not figure out the problem.

The Rims are definitely not normal, they get very hot, so much so that one could burn one's hand just by touching them.

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

reply asap...

Thanking you all in anticipation

Bmia

it sounds as though the brakes might be binding on, suspect sticking brake calipers or a faulty servo but on such a new car this is unlikely, l suggest you take it back to your dealer and say that you are not satisfied

First of All Thnx For your reply....

yea i have taken it to my dealer many times now... and they say it is normal for a car's disc brakes to get hot..... however when i checked my other car (Suzuki alto) and my friends cars... there were perfectly normal after few miles....

the problem here is that... i myself dont know much abt cars braking system... i went to my private mechanic... he did a check up and told me that the problem was caused by faulty servo... and not by the dragging brakes....

my dealer is still unable to identify the cause... and there they have done every possible work on the pads and disc... however they have not done anything on the servo.....

i m really facing problems here... as already one of the front tires had burst due to overheated rims.....

please can anyone tell me the operating temperature range of disc brakes???
and also if the servo is not working properly... what is in it that is causing this problem?? as the brakes are not being dragged.....

I m also downloading the Shop Manual for Hyundai... Hopefully it will contain some positive information about my cars brakes....

If your dealer cannot find the problem escalate it to Hyundai Pakistan so that they can send an engineer to check it out or go to another Hyundai dealer to have him check it out.
The wheels should never get that hot so you cant touch them and it is a very important issue.
Lastly take it back to the dealer (Get it nice and hot) crack an egg and fry it on the wheel (joke :P )
You can tell him you want the vehicle replaced as it is too dangerous to use on the road, Tell him he must contact Hyundai Pakistan for a remedy without delay-

In the interest of safety I would not drive this vehicle before it is fixed. If the dealer sends you away tell him (and confirm it in writing) that you hold him personally responsible should the brakes fail , a wheel fall off, a tyre blowout or any other incident and you will sue the skin off his back for compensation should it hurt you or your family.

Go Getim

What is the vehicle's mileage? Is it in the typical range for your car's age. If its less then surely the brakes are eating up engine power - its like you are driving with the brake pedal partially depressed.
