My buddy just bought a legacy GT and he ordered a clear bra but it only covers the front of the hood and it was like 180 bucks. And thats with him installing it. I think he said it was the 3M Brand but i thought that was kinda high? Anyone else know where i can buy one from?

Carter,

Unless you are familiar with installing tint and such, I strongly suggest that you leave installation to the pros. The stuff isn't cheap and not worth ruining after a botched installation.

As for the film itself, I once had VentureShield installed - supposedly much better than 3M - but this was back when 3M was known to yellow after 3 years or so. This might not be the case anymore.

VentureShield is rather hard to come by compared to 3M.

The tinter/applicator people I've spoken to all say to get 3M.

If $180 seems expensive, go price out the cost of respraying your car's nose. I think the 09s have better paint than the 06s, but my car needed a respray after about only 20,000 miles.

I had to have my 06 Sonata's front bumper resprayed too. Started peeling. I will let my friend install the Clear film. You can't even see it hardly on his white pearl legacy GT!! That car is so freaking nice! I am going to check around though on finding a better price. My friend said the film from 3M comes with a 7 yr war.

what did that run you? I never did get my peeling front bumper fixed and now its covering most of the front bumper. Last time I went to the dealer ( a few months ago) they quoted me $300-350 to have it repainted and clear coat put on.

I didn't have it done, and a couple weeks after I got the quote, one of my neighbors was kind enough to back into my car hard enough to crack the front bumper quite severely.

Since then, I've just given up on keeping the nose looking pretty until I can park it in the garage. :)
The last thing I need is to get the respray done and have someone else back into it a couple days later.

A friend of mine paid 6-700 to get his 3M clear bra done on his speed3.. it covers first 18" of hood, bumper, side panels, fog and head lights, side mirrors. Also comes with a life time warranty.

It is pricey stuff but you cant really tell it is even on except where it ends on the hood and even then you have to be looking.

Save your money. A good buddy made the mistake of trying these no-name kits and I was there to witness it. It barely stretches and is really difficult to wrap around edges/creases.

Besides, the material is not as thick or pliable as the name brands. I would imagine if a stone hit it, the impact would still be transmitted to the paint.
