Hi all.

I'm considering having my car remapped/chipped. I'm not 100% sure what this entails, but I wondered if anyone else has had this done to a Trajet, and if so, how has it improved things?

I'm particularly interested in improving the towing performance of my car.

Various firms advertise on the web - with various prices!!

Typically, they quote an increase in power from 111 to around 140bhp, and an increase in torque from 255 to around 320 Nm. Prices seem to start at around £300 and go up to around twice that.

l have never known anyone use one of thease 'gagets' on a trajet diesel, beware the vast majority of thease that you see on e-bay and other web sites are a waste of money, unless you can buy and get one fitted with a full written money back guarantee l wound'nt part with a penny

It's not a part - it's a remap. They plug a laptop into your car I think, and reprogram the ecu.

A couple of years ago, the Tucson was 111bhp, now they are 138bhp. As far as I know, it's the same engine, just a remapped ecu that accounts for the difference.

I'm in Colchester.

As I said, I've been quoted around 140bhp with the torque increased to around 320Nm.

I'm not after more speed, just an improved towing performance, so it's the torque increase that interests me more.

Hi
I have been using a bolt on for last 3 years on my 2.0 CRTD Tucson and it works well, has improved my towing tremendously.

Can I correct one thing you said though
There are now two Tucson 2.0 Engines the 113 BHP model and the Euro 1V 138 BHP model.
Now both of these can get enhanced by fitting a bolt on and the trajet can be improved to 136/306 from 113/255.

I'm currently trialling one from a new supplier and will have a report on the unit shortly.
You can send me a pm or email or contact me through Hyundaiownersclub or via this forum if you want more details as can anyone else thats interested. Sorry Diesel only not for Petrol engine's.

Cheers

Itza

Thanks for the info so far.

As a follow on question, have forum members that have "chipped" cars - any model - informed their insurers, and if so, what difference does it make to premiums?
