Occasionally an alarm goes off & I wasn't aware there was an alarm on the car. I have a keyless entry but thats all.What is making it activate & how do I stop it?

You have keyless entry so you have a panic button, right? Are you hitting it accidentilly while in your pocket? That, and if you lock the door with the remote you need to unlock it the same way, not with the key, or the alarm will go off.

Nope there isn't a panic button.Just lock or unlock, but I'll try the other (locking & unlocking with remote. Thanks

Hi,

I had this problem too: try to set lower alarm sensitivity. Worked for me. I had two settings: 1st was for shock sensor adjustment and 2nd was for ultra-sound adjustment. When on high sensitivity - alarm went on for no reason all the time.

The factory alarm on an Elantra doesn't have either one of those sensors. The most likely culprit is a mis-adjusted door or hood switch; the hood switch (along the right fender) has been known to be the culprit for several people.
