So, I made another post the other day about putting one speaker in on the drivers door, and it being troublesome etc. Well today its finally not raining, so I go to install the other, and to make things easier dealing with the tweeter, I wanted to roll the window down. Well, the window wouldn't go...so I check the fuses, and sure enough, blown fuse.

I go up to the store, grab some fuses, put it in. Play with the windows from the driver side, and pop, blows again. Take the door panel off, play with the harness, making sure all the wires are shoved up in there good. From the passenger side, front and back, the windows operate fine, no fuses blown. Operating them from the driver's side...2 more blown fuses.

So, now I'm pretty much lost. Its apparently a short circuit. Probably caused by the way the panel hung off on its own weight the very first time I got it off. I'm hoping by the way they used about a mile of electrical tape to hold all the wires together in a bunch coming out of the door that I couldn't have really pulled on anything back beyond that point. It could possibly be caused by having the key in the ignition while the stuff was being pulled on, so maybe it blew those switches up. I don't see any exposed wires to short together before the harness, and everything looks like it goes into the harness well, and the male part of the harness on the door looks fine.

Only option I can really come up with is to take it to the dealer, and let them handle it, probably for a charge since I caused it, and the installation obviously wasn't a pro job. I mean, if I really thought it was the window cluster of switches, I could probably order the parts, and install it, but I am totally beyond doing any more installations at this point. Also, even though I could pop in a new fuse and operate the passenger windows to do the other install, I don't want to cause more problems, so I'm going to hold off till we get problem one solved.

Anyways, any thoughts or advice on the situation would be appreciated.

Also, the auto-lock fuse is not blown, and the system works with the remote entry. But, the drivers side switch will only lock/unlock the drivers door, and the passengers side does nothing...and I haven't even popped the panel off the passenger side yet...sigh.

Just in case anyone was curious or runs into this in the future, the dealership diagnosed it as a "pinched wire"...I'm not really sure where it was pinched but the problem sees to be solved.

Was it a coincidence or did they say you caused it ?

They didn't place blame, but they charged me. I mean it only started after my speaker install. Anyways, i'm just happy to have everything back to 100%
