Can't we just cut a coil off the stock springs and have a lowered car or would this be a bad idea? I have a torch a mig and tig welder and access to a lathe and a mill (maybe even to a CNC :)

also wondering about making our own Strut Bar if anyone can give me an idea how to do this It can be done and if it works correctly I could get a few made for all of us.

Let me know ! :)

I found on Google that cutting springs increases the spring rate thus giving a harsher ride. if you decide to cut the springs, do not use your torch. The heat will weaken the metal. Cut the coil cold with a grinding wheel or saw.

for fucks sake... that's what Latinos did to their rides in the 70s.... and it's no wonder their cars have no suspension now and drag on the street. Just suck it up and save up the money lol

well speaking with experience...itll work fine honestly!..ive lowered a 3400lbs car 2" by cutting 2 coils off (Volvo 740 GLE)....and lemme tell ya..once i lowered it, did some massive weight reduction and added some fat rubber it handles better than any BMW or Audi ive been around lol...but like someone said..do it with the coils COLD

heres my Volvo:

Im actually glad someone posted it up the idea cuz i thought about it here and there..but i dunno...

cuz for me i would rather get new springs.. but in my case i got coilovers to get maximum lowerage and just a better/stiffer ride. im not comfortable with cutting my springs because i've seen civics/integras do it. and they bounce like **** and my friends WRX ride quality was HORRIBLE. i mean i know it worked on your volvo but thats just like 1 car outta how many? that i know have had problems with it??
