The reason i ask this question is because everytime i go to discount gas station the gas does not last as long as if were to use union 76, shell or chevron. When i use arco gas it get about 30 less per tank than if were use top tier gas stations.

I believe you get what you pay for.

Even though fuel prices are i will not settle for less than top tier Gasoline.

Although we have done this Gas thing before, and it is really not a Model

specific question, I used to only buy UNOCAL as they didn't sell 87

Octane. No they made a 89 Grade and sold it for less than the major competitors

87 Octane. This was done up until the late 80's when all Stations (at least in

California) were forced to sell 3 Grades instead of two. I remember EVERY

existing Station had to be torn up to accommodate that 3rd tank.

I use 94 octane Platinum always! :)

octane is less important in our cars than the brand... whatever our cars are rated is perfectly fine. you won't see/feel a difference if you use more octane

too bad hyundai doesn't recommend a toptier manufacturer

i'm guessing those arco you are filling at may be not calibrated right if you really are getting less mileage. meaning says it's pumping you 15 gallons but only getting 14. it's not like gas stations done pinch customers.. at least the bad ones! :)

We don't have 94 Octane here in this part of the U.S. but we do sell 105

nope In canada I used 89 Octane, it was mid grade I believe. Come to Saudi Arabia miami! Ofcourse you are welcome here, you always are :thumbsup: Over here gas varies according to area, the rate over here is that I can usually get the car filled empty-full tank for $11 with 94 octane, when I first arrived it was more expensive but it has gone down now, Im not sure why :57:

So Miami come down to Saudi Arabia! Most people complain about the weather but that shouldnt be a problem for you :beer:

I tried a few brands here, in Canada. Shell V-Power (91-st octane) is the best so far. I also tried Sunoco (no kick, it's full of ethanol) and Petro-Canada - better, but Shell beats it - I get slightly more distance on tank of Shell vs. Petro.

Whenever I can find it at a good price I try to use a tier 1 brand, usually Shell or Texaco in my area, but if I need gas and there is a good price where I need it on something else I go ahead and get it. I do not think it makes a difference in mileage, but frequent use of a tier one brand can keep the engine cleaner.

I hear that the top tier gas companies only add a little detergent to several thousands gallons of gasoline. Ex: techron in chevron.

I use half chevron and half no-name brand to keep cost low

I always use Chevron regular grade. Well, there was that one time when the light came on and all I could see was Shell stations as far as the eye could see (no kidding, there were three of them out of four corners of one intersection).

Either way, I ALWAYS use top tier go-juice.

I always use Shell Bronze, (87 I think), as Shell has the Air Miles reward program. Car runs fine on it .. sometimes I use Esso - regular grade - 87

I use BP/Amoco, but i want to find gas without 10% ethanol.

Mostly SHELL low grade. One of the cheapest around here. 3.50 yesterday.
Before i used to mix low-high grades but now it's too expensive.

Try Ethanol. Good powerful stuff! Always hated Shell. Go Hess, Go NY Jets!

I use Chevron regular 87. There is no need for higher octane as Sonata is not a performance car.

Anybody has any independent research data to prove whose brand has the best quality gas?

Conoco - Phillips 85 octane.
