About a week ago I bought a 2009 Genesis with the V6 - preimum plus with the technology package. I noticed the oil filter is mounted vertical on top of the engine. Just wondered if anyone could tell me how to remove the engine cover to make access to the filter easier. I also wondered if there were any tricks to changing the filter? I assume that once you break it lose the oil in the filter drains back into the block. It will be a while before the first oil change but I am an old Muscle Car gear head that still likes to do as much of my own maintenance as possible - including oil and filters. Any information would be helpfil.

Just pop it off! There are three (I think) tabs that push into rubber holes in the engine cover. No tabs to break, no screws to unscrew. Just pop it up and take it off.

Well that was just way to simple - I was trying to make it more complicated than that - thanks for the info.
