Hi there, I perhaps should introduce myself, Name: Lisa, and my vehicle a 2004 purchased '05 Model Santa Fe, and soon to be four years down the track I still love getting into my car and driving about.

I have read some of the posts on here and noted that some people do not get the fuel consumption out of there vehicle as they would like. Okay I am in Australia and am averaging about 400km out of a tank. I am sorry in I can not put in miles as I do not know how to convert and I am a girl so oops I have to acknowledge my inferior knowledge on this matter. I think I should get better consumption out of the car (this is city driving) and on the highway it is a little more improved but think it could be better. Mind you this is my first V6.

I do have the horrible smell on start up of the air con and thank you all for your posts as I will go in a little more knowledgable when next getting the car serviced and asking to have this seen to.

But my baby is soon to be four and I am thinking that this girl should live the dream to make her much loved a little different. I am thinking to start I will look at changing the tail lights and can not decide on the silver or black housing case, my Santy is silver so personally I think (for today as I do change my mind, girls right!) that the black will contrast to the black window tint and black on the vehicle as silver my just look a little too much. What do you think??? Would love to know what you have done and see some pics so that I may be helped in visualizing the look before spending the cash.

Please reply to my post if you are able to help or just say hello

tc

Lisa

:00000732:

400 km (248 miles) in only city driving is a pretty bad tank for me. I usually get to 290-300 miles (465-480 km) before the fuel light comes on in mostly city with some around-town freeway driving. If I'm really frugal, I can get it to 320 miles (515 km) before the light glows.

Here's what I've noticed in terms of fuel mileage (American MPG):

City: 17-19 mpg
Mixed: 20-23 mpg
Highway: 23-26 mpg

My all time record is 27.5 mpg and I have no idea how that happened. In general, I keep my tires at 32 psi, keep the engine air filter clean, and keep unnecessary weight out of the car. If I have friends or a load of any sort, I see an instant hit on mileage.

I'm afraid I can't help you with the aftermarket taillights but I hope this sheds some light on your mileage concerns.

As for the stale smell coming from the AC try a product named FrigiFresh, made by BG. I do not know if it is available in AU but there must be something similar.
