On an 06 (think it's probably the same for any 4G), how do I take the cover off that houses the license plate light bulbs?

I've checked in the owner's manual, Google, and on the boards but can't find any specifics. Prying it doesn't do it and I can't find access in the trunk.

Thanks in advance!

the bulb housings just pop out. Get a flat head, and pull them out... they are tricky, and be careful not to scratch the paint.

Pick up a trim removal kit for very cheap (which you can use later on for other things) or wrap a flathead with electrical tape.

Push in through the side and twist the head. That will pull the housing out enough for you to remove by hand.

If you don't want to risk prying out the lights you can also do something a little more complicated but you'll need nimble fingers to do it. Remove the trunk carpet liner from the lid and get to them from behind. I put in long life bulbs so I won't have to do it again. Seems license plate light bulbs are common failure items on the NF. Hyundai must have been getting bulbs from the lowest bidder.
