From what I've learned here, it does not need to be replaced since it does not affect the way the engine performs. It is however a treehugger item and appears to be Hyundai's way of making the car more environmentally friendly.

The dealer says there is an air filter on the fuel tank that filters gasoline vapors before they reach the atmosphere.
Since this is the first car I've had that has such a thing, can someone enlighten me on where it is and if I can replace it myself and how maybe?
Also, how often it should REALLY be replaced as per your opinions would be welcomed.
My LX has 49,000 on it now and I imagine it's never been done.
Thanks,
Steve
