I will be doing the Timing belt on my 99 Lantra (Elantra) 1.6 soon. I was wondering if the job could be done without removing the water pump pulley and power steering pulley? If it does have to be removed does the drive belt keep it in place sufficiently to undo the bolts?
Also can the tensioner and idler be reused if they look OK or are they better replaced as a matter of course?
Thanks for any help.

the answer to your questions are yes, yes and yes. you need to undo both pulleys, the belt should hold the pulley while you undo the bolts (put hand pressure on the belt to get more tension) and it is adviseable to change the tensioner
