I am trying to remove the tranny from a 97 with a 5 speed with a 2.0. I have everything removed from the case. All the bell bolt have been removed and there is a 1/2 inch gap between the block and the case but it will not come out. I think it might be catching on the release bearing but im not sure. If it is, how the **** do i get it off without breaking anything. If anyone has run into this problem i would appreciate some advice. Thanks.

this question has come up many times before (use the search engine)....you need to remove the shaft from the gearbox that operates the release bearing before you can pull the box out
