I recently bought a new 2008 Sonata V6 and it came with Hankook Optimo tires. Now that the summer is almost over, how good are those tires in rainy and snowy conditions?

They are also on my 2009 Sonata, decent tire for what they are so far. I drove almost 500 miles on them, and a good part of it through somewhat tropical storm weather (Florida west coast) without any issues. There are two reviews on tire rack with the not the best of praise, especially from someone who has driven in snow with them. Their cars didn't have ESC & Traction Control either so...Again, I'm in Florida so its very rare it will actually snow. But I sure can tell you about rain...lol

I'm still breaking in my car so the jury is still out.

My suggestion...try them out for a winter and you'll know. I've read where folks don't like the '06 OEM Michelins in the snow. Know what? They've done great for me thru two winters and lots of snow.

It's all in taste and feel AND your pocketbook. Make your own observations and let us know what you think.

my mom bought those earlier this year for her 06 tucson and she loves them. She can leave them on when winter comes around this year.

I on the other hand have the dreaded Michelin Energy MXv4's on mine..........they are garbage. Even in rain i wouldnt recommend them. I will def need to buy some good winter tires this year.

Being in van-city you should be fine with those tires, you don't have to worry about 10 ft high snowbanks like we do here in Ottawa!
