I just got an 08 accent se a few days ago. I was under the impression that an aux input jack was standard equipment because it is clearly stated on the Hyundai website.

The booklet I have from the dealer, also for the 08 accent, doesn't mention it at all, not even as an option.

The owners manual has a picture of it as well.

Anyone know anything about this?

I'm going back to the dealer tomorrow.

Is there any reason mine wouldn't have it?

I think only the later 08s have it. The 08s with the XM stereo.
Mine is an early 08 and It doesn't have one either.

For a charge, definitely.
For free, Maybe.
Since your car is only a few days old, they might if you complain enough, especially if the later 08's have it. Threaten them with Buyer's Remorse laws if your state has those.

yeah thats what i'm thinking as well. It's almost false advertising. As far as i have seen on the Hyundai website, there is never any small print about it only being on new 08's, it is always listed as standard. I dont mind paying a little for it but hopefully it will be a free. are there any other differences that you know of between early/late 08's?

No, I'm Canadian, and no mine doesn't have XM either, just a plain jane mp3 cd player w/ radio and AUX input.

Maybe American cars didn't get it?

Same here.... But also, Bulldog, because you and I have the same setup, we can't use aftermarket radios. Trust Me. I've tried. All the connections are proprietary and there aren't any adapters that work (yet), including the harness on Crutchfield.

Hyundai is really bad about doing things like that.
The same way they make there radios different from
any other din sizes. Wouldn't make sense to use the
same or similar to other asian car companies?

I think build date comparisons are in order. How about taking a sec to check your 08's that do and don't have the aux in jack and report back what the build date says? (It's on the driver's door sill plate if you haven't noticed it yet.) :) Natekirk, I'm thinking you may have an '08 that was sitting around for a while. OR, Hyundai went back to just putting the regular radios in.

They've changed a LOT of stuff as bloodninja pointed out - all of your wiring harness connections, antenna plug, etc. is different on the radios with the aux in so it's not a quick solution unfortunately.:( If the dealer won't trade the car out you may just be better off going aftermarket or picking up a wired FM modulator if you're wanting to keep the stock unit.

NONE for your car, if you already have the XM radio unit in your car.

Otherwise, JVC makes really nice radios with great features. Make SURE they have a built-in HD receiver.
