If charging a cell phone for 8 hours kills your battery, you've got a whole mess of other problems that need sorting out. The best way I can think of to solve the problem is to trace the wires from the power point to the interior fuse box, and to find a pair of wires with constant power, then splice onto them. It'll be a pain in the butt, but should be fairly simple if you have a test light or multimeter.

QUOTE(ironman @ Sep 3 2008, 08:23 PM) a little OT, but after you turn off the ignition you can still roll up your windows (but you can't close your sunroof :P)
...But, you have to roll up your windows with the car off before you open the door. Once you open the door, you have to turn the car on and roll them back up.

QUOTE(2BIT @ Sep 1 2008, 12:36 PM) I have the 2009 Sonata Limited. The power point turns off with the ignition key. That is retarded. Anyone got an idea on how to change this so it has constand power? Reason being, you can charge cell phones and things while at work.
not really a solution to your question but...you could always bring the normal plug-into-the-wall charger and charge them in your office! haha thats my two cents. :gitara:

Quote: I'd like a solution to this too. I plug my portable GPS into the power point and I'd like for it to stay on all the time when I'm on a trip. Every time you stop or get gas it shuts off and then you have to re-acquire upon starting up
My GPS just goes on battery when I turn off.

A million years ago, I had a bag phone with a 12V 6Ah battery - charging that would kill your car battery :) , I think I got 2 hours of talk time with it.

Somewhere (likely on this forum) I saw a tip. Likely if you do a search you can find more info.
I've done this and it works great.
Buy 2 "Add-A-Fuse" by Littlefuse Connect the 2 pigtails together and bridge an always on circuit to the power outlet.
Of course put some thought into tapping into an acceptable circuit and making sure all remains properly fused. It's reversible in seconds and no cutting original wiring.
Unfortunately the taps aren't cheap though. In Canada, they are available at Canadian Tire.
