Is there a site that is the "trusted" source for if a radio will fit in a Sonata (06)? I know Crutchfield says YES and Best Buy says NO on the radio I am looking at getting (Pioneer FH-P800BT) so I'm looking for the best source of this info.

Thanks

I think it fits, but you need to use the Scosche dash kit for the Sonata; don't use the Metra kit because it only fits a single-DIN radio, which is half the height of the Pioneer you mention.

The criteria for "fits" and "doesn't fit" try their best to give accurate information but sometimes they give inaccurate answers. I was one of the pioneers  here, ignoring Crutchfield's "does not fit" advice. The Kenwood single-DIN radio installed with no problem except the dash kit didn't quite match the other trim plates. I painted the kit and small trim plates with Rust-Oleum textured black; NOW they match.

You or your installer should be able to make it work. The Sonata has enough room for a standard double-DIN radio with the Scosche kit. I used to have one in my Sonata.

Good luck.

I have an Alpine IVA-W200 in mine and it is one of the longer double DIN radios out there.
I've still got enough room to have it sunk in an inch further than normal, so honestly, I really wouldn't worry about fitment in our cars, the radio bay is pretty large, and quite regularily shaped inside without too many odd protrusions or strange dimensions.

Thanks very much for the replies guys! Going to look for the best deal on the radio and replace the factory head unit!

Love the forum! Just wish I'd remembered about it sooner!
