I came across this newer Optima yesterday with an OEM fit spoiler. Came home and looked it up. And yes, Kia has an OEM spoiler for the Optima (****, Hyundai).

I have seen a few aftermarket spoilers for Sonata but they are really just that - aftermarket. The fitment is definitely an issue. What I mean is the sides of the spoiler are not parallel to the trunk lid line (gap line between the trunk lid and the rear fender) or the sides extend too much beyond the trunk lid line.

The general size, shape and lines of the new Kia Optima trunk lid is almost identical to our 4g Sonata's. I think this Optima OEM spoiler might fit the Sonatas as it they were made for it.

What do you guys think?

why the heck do you want a spoiler on a sonata; this is not a hot rod; get a fast car if you want to spend mod money

Theres already an OEM spoiler for the Sonata. Get it from your dealer, for some reason the lip spoiler looks really good on the Sonata and it just doesnt look good without one

Did you take a look at the pics? It's not like I am talking about a 3-feet high Subaru STI spoiler.

Welcome to the club btw.

Why shouldn't he get a spoiler on a Sonata? I think it looks kick ****.
Why do you think only fast cars should have money spent on them, or have a spoiler for that matter?
I see you drive a '09 Sonata SE. Don't those come with a lip spoiler from the factory? Why did you pay extra money to have that put on your car? Your car is no hot rod either!!!

Aesthetics would be my guess. The same reason Honda Accords, Toyota Corollas, Camrys, Civics, Impalas, Cobalts, Monte Carlos, Focus', etc., come with them.

There are also a few OEM on Ebay for the Sonatas that look pretty cool. A few in here have them.

Would you please show me one? I would like to know. I am interested in one that is not a lip style.

I was parked next to a new Kia Optima today and it had a spoiler like the one posted here. I looked the car over and while the spoiler fits nice on the Optima, I don't think it will fit right on the Sonata. Doing some research the Kia is Narrower And shorter than the Sonata. The Cargo volumn is 2 cu. ft. more on the Sonata and the interior voulmn is 17 cu. ft. bigger. As I was comparing the two cars you could see the Sonata is definatly bigger. It is a good looking spoiler, but I don,t think it would look good on the Sonata.

Why not just buy a Sonata spoiler from Hyundai and be done with it? Are the Kia spoilers less expensive like the car? :whistling:

Sorry, I didn't know Hyundai has an OEM spoiler that looks similar to the one I posted. Could you post a link for the one you're talking about?

Who said the sonata wasnt fast? people eat my 3G all the time :D. just because it has 4 doors doesnt make it slow. When i break 130 in mine i would like to have the spoiler keeping my **** end on the ground k? If you have a problem with sonatas having spoilers lets line up and you can see how mine looks :57:

Whoa! time to learn how to use this thing called tha intar-web. Seriously, shop around...i know the kia spoiler can be found for less than that...I use to drive an optima(quit pointing at my shame!) You can probably find spoilers for the sonata for less than that as well.

Lowest I found was $186 for the Kia spoiler. How much is the Hyundai spoiler. Also, is the Hyundai OEM a lip-style?
