How much room do we have to play with for the muffler area?

I'm talkin about length, width, and height.

The place I'm tryin to get my exhaust work done at doesn't carry Magnaflow, but they do carry Dynomax. I've heard on various forums now that Dynomax have a tendency to get really loud as they get older and raspy. I'm hoping that getting a Magnaflow stainless steel muffler would not only last longer than the Aluminized ones made my Dynomax, but also sound better for much longer. ALSO, let's not forget to mention that Magnaflows come with a Lifetime Guarantee... the Dynomax's, not so much. If all that's the case, then I'd rather get the Magnaflow muffler online, save a lot of money, then have them install all that jazz.
All I need to know now, is what the biggest muffler i can get is that will fit in a 2008 Accent SE.

Thanks!

Sorry I can't give you specifics but I installed a receiver hitch on my Accent a week ago and there isn't much extra room for a larger muffler. The exhaust is all rubber mounted and can move if necessary within the clearances. If you go aftermarket I'd suggest staying with something similar in size.

Well I'm ASSUMING they're all the same, but since no one will grow a pair and take a picture of their muffler for me, I can't know for sure! LOL

Yeah, I have the Canadian L version. Then again, none of my cars have ever had air conditioning so I don't really miss it.

In the US, there's only 3 models.

GS - Base model Hatchback
GLS - Nice 4-door version of the car
SE - Pwntastic 3-door

That's actually probably a good idea. It'd cost much less.. I wonder if I could have it exhaust out the sides, just behind the doors?? THAT'D BE HOT! Just get a Single Inlet - Dual Outlet Magnaflow muffler, and run a 45-degree pipe to either side of the car! (is it that easy?)

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd...ne=main&id=7530 FTW?!

yes and no.........

i looked into it and it can be done but you have to check you laws. here i think as long as its past the door of the drivers compartment it legal... liquid 02 chime in i forget. the only problem i found was running the pipe in a way that it hugged the under body as much as possible. i decided against it cuse im dropping the car 1.4 next summer but i know it can be done. if you look there are little rubber protectors that look like a reverse mud flap, i was going to run mine flush with that and flush with the under body pannel but with the tip i wanted itwas way too close to the ground for my likein.

the one you selected will work and if thats what you want to use then running the exhaust that close to the ground is no problem

i used a little bitty muffler and put it in. i want to get a diferent one to help quiet the noise at 3000 rpm plus. the inside noise sucks at high way speed

thats what i have...great car...same engine as the SR..so long as you put an intake on it lol...so you arent really gaining much with the extra billion dollars you pay for an SR (no offense to SR owners..LOVE the SR's...just cant afford it lol)...a few suspension tweaks and some other things and you're 1 up on the SR...i know my L will pwn a stock SR and i saved an assload of cash doing so :)...(still not bashing SR's...like i said i love them :D)

Yeah, I can't imagine it would be illegal. It would probably save me a LOT of money though, since they'd only have to do one 45 or 90 degree angle per pipe. And it'd be a very unique look for the Accent
As long as it's okay for the muffler to be right after the catalytic converter, I think it'd be an awesome idea.

Here's what I'm thinking (obviously it's not a perfect diagram, but it should demonstrate the gist of what I'm talking about. ...and yes, I drew that in Photoshop lol. This is the Magnaflow muffler I'm planning on using if I go through with this setup: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd...ne=main&id=7530
