I am not sure if this is a problem or a Santa Fe idiosyncracy.

My wife while out shopping parked the Santa Fe and inadvertantly turned the ignition off and removed the key without going into "Park". She exited the truck only to have it start to roll as she was on a slight incline.

I tried it myself when she got home and there are no warning ie chimes, nor any problem removing the key.

I tried a Toyota Highlander and the key could not be removed and chimes sounded while I was trying. Impossible to leave the Highlander in that condition but very easily done in the Santa Fe.

Anyone else have the same thing?

Just tried it in mine - the key definitely does not come out of the ignition in any gear except "Park". That is definitely a defect on yours - I would take it in for service as soon as possible.
