Hey does anybody know if these so called electric superchargers work? I mean its kinda hard to believe that something for like 40 bucks can actually give you decent boost?

don't see how that would do anything other than suck air in to the filter....
i'd think you want something that sucks into the manifold, no?

Stuff I've seen on them is they actually make your car slower by restricting the air flow. They are not stong enough to pressurize the intake manifold--basically useless!!!!!

well, it would have to have a variable speed. i havent seen anythign about them but i would say it probably might force more air into the intake at idle but when you hit rpms its probably gonna hold you back cause it cant keep up with the amount of air your engine will need to take in... but then again. i know nothing about them and have seen none in use. in theory it could work if it could keep up. in practice? no clue... for 40 bucks i would say its probably not gonna work.

Dude... you have a tiburon. What more could you ask for? lol... look at my little Accent. But seriously though. Anything that claims to be a super/turbo charger and costs less than $3,000 is a piece of **** and won't do ANYTHING for you.

not sure yet but the kit i found was on seoulfulracing.com and its a stage 2 that puts out like 280-300 hp to the wheels and like 270 ft lbs of torque. Its a pretty bad **** kit. i talked to kdmguy and he said it could run up tp like 7 lbs of boosr but thats pushin pistons and rings so im looking to run anywhere from 8 to 12 or 13 lbs

Ever thought about supercharging? You can much desired power at lower psi's.

no i never thought about a supercharger. I like the turbos because they have better performance and superchaargers take power to make power. The turbos have less spool up time and they can put out more psi if i wanted it too. Thats why i like the turbo

well i dont know about the whole "less spool up time" turbo lag seems to come to mind there, and if you want to be making more power than a supercharger can give you, yes go turbo btu at the same time if your going to be running that much power your not just going to be able to slap a turbo on and call it a day, you will probably have to replace the bottom end otherwise $hit$ gunna break...either way good luck with which ever you choose

Yes indeed. Where as turbos have turbo lags (though in more refined ones it's much less apparent), supercharger boosts throughout the powerband. And like chad said if you want that much power you're gonna need a lot more than just putting in a tubro with high psi. Also, superchargers are capable of decent psi's. Example: The Cobalt SS's Eaton Supercharger (now they changed it to turbocharged) was running 12 psi stock. Granted I'm not an expert on these things; I'm just speaking from what I know. If you still prefer turbo that's perfectly fine, and good luck!

so a supercharger would be your cheaper easier way to go, but if you want more power than that and you are willing to put in the extra work and money, then turbo it is

yea you have a point. I have always been more a turbo man myself. I talked to kdmguy where i found the kit about the bottom end situation and he said that they have some test cars that are all stock bottom ends with turbo kits and they have ran a max of 15 or 16 psi and they still have held up very well. The cars are also driven daily on a normal basis.
