My 97 Hyundai Elantra is giving me some issues.
The dash lights will dim and go out, the RPM needle will start jumping around then the car will die.

We put in a new alternator and it seemed to fix the problem for a day. The car can be jumped to start again.
We are going to put in a new battery today since it started up again.

Any other ideas about what could cause this?
It seems to happen more when I use the car on the highway and then exit.
It is the Catalyic Converter?

So, we put the new battery in and the car ran for the night and this morning. Got me home, my husband back and forth to work and me to work. I shut off the car and tried to start it back up this morning and now all I get is click-click-click.

Did the old battery kill the new alternator?

Its an option but it will be very odd...

maybe you have some short circuit somewhere or the electronics are fried .. maybe a fuse

you can check the alternator with a special u-nit that plugs into the cars computer
