Thinking of this for a practical mod:

http://www.amazon.com/CIPA-Auto-Dimming-Mi...9891654&sr=1-57

Have to see which model is right, but I like the idea of the compass, auto dimming and outside air temp display. I loved this type of mirror on my old '96 mark VIII.

I'm interested in those too, but where would you run the wires?

Those are very nice to have, I installed one in my last car. It wasn't much trouble, it slid right on to the existing mirror button on the glass. Then I just had to tuck the wiring into the headliner by the windshield, took off the 'A' pillar trim and ran the wiring down to the dash. Grounded to a bolt on the dash, used an add-a-circuit in a switched fuse in the fuse block to get power. You'll of course have more connections if you go for the ones with map lights and temp sensor.

BUT the Accent poses a problem though due to the bizarre (and huge) mirror mounting bracket that Hyundai tends to use so much. :( You'll have to add the little "button" on the windshield that the new mirror attaches to, you can't use the existing bracket. Thats not going to be too big of an issue, you can get those little buttons from auto parts stores. Not sure if you can remove the existing square mirror bracket and put the button on there to attach the new mirror to or if you would have to mount it lower on the glass. I've noticed the Sonata (at least the 06) without the electrochromic mirror has a windshield similar to ours with the heavy dot matrix in the center and the big square bracket. Those with the mirror option have a different windshield that has only the small button the mirror slides onto, similar to what you'd find on a domestic vehicle.

All in all, a worthwhile investment. I'm sure the mounting issues are easily overcome.

I'm going to check it out and see if I can find more. Thanks for the information though, it is helpful and this looks like it will be a worthwhile mod for the money.

I kinda miss mine sometimes. :( I should have taken it off before I traded the car but didn't want to mess with mounting it in this one. It was a basic one with just the dimming feature, the ones with map lights and the compass/temp display are sweet.

It'll definitely be a worth the investment.

I have the mirrors on all my vehicles except my Accent. I do have a spare mirror in my garage that I took off my Mazda Tribute when I traded it in. I asked here last year about taking the OEM mirror off and was told it was nearly impossible to remove so I've left it at that. I have not had my car in the d-ship yet for service but will be sure to ask about this removal once I do.

I added this mod to my Miata and have been very pleased with it. It is an easy add on and makes night driving much more pleasurable.

Same place you would for a car that had it from the factory, the headliner

All you would have to do is find a new bracket for the windshield and glue that on instead, did that to my pontiac as i didn't like the factory one

This looks like a pretty good mod, what are the dimensions of that mirror. I didnt check the website. But I have been looking for a way to install an outside air temp sensor without going the carputer route.
