Hello all,

I just bought a 2003 Elantra this past weekend, and am very happy with it so far.

In an attempt to bypass the alarm, I tried to use the key on the driver's side door to lock/unlock, and discovered that the key does not work on that door.

The key does work on the passenger side door. And the driver's side door can be locked/unlocked with the remote, as well as by using the lock switch button inside.

Does this sound like an expensive repair? And there will be a downside in the long run if I don't fix it?

Thanks all in advance.

-David

this sounds like either the lock itself is broken or the lincage has come adrift inside the door, the door trim will have to come off to investigate the problem, it will not do ant harm if you leave it

I have the same problem on my sonata, but its because i dont have the orginal key, it was actually made at wal-mart. It will start the car but not work on the door locks because its got one little spot the just doesnt line up right... see if the other key you have might do it if you have one that is. if not that the montego is right.
