Programming the ECU will be an issue. This is why I held off on the turbo. Programing a CVVT motor is not easy.

I saw somebody mention the AEM F/IC module in another thread... so I did a little reading on it:

HERE

Looks like it works with motors that have VVT. But it is still a piggyback system and there are NO maps for our cars. I read on their support forums, and it seems that AEM puts Hyundai at a lower priority level than other more popular tuning platforms for creating a plug n'play solution. So if someone could nail down maps and installation of something like that, fueling may not be a big deal anymore.

I have no idea about the actual physical dimensions of the supercharger setups, though. Maybe someone else could chime in on that aspect.

One of the cool things about a piggy back is that you dont need a map ..once you hok it up if you leave the seetings alone it wont change anything .. and you can drive over to a dyno and they can tune your car.. thats whats cool about the aem FIC its very similar software to the AEM EMS so alot of shops can tune it. but on other note.. the AEM FIC is compatable with teh AEM wideband UGEO you can hook it directly into the AEMFIC and it can creat a map for you based on the wideband o2 sensor!! i think that is pretty slick.

It is a nice setup... I agree with you there. But I think that anyone using that on a Hyundai Accent is still going to be exploring uncharted waters...

Just poking around a bit on their support forums, I see a lot of people with drivability issues even repeated tunes. I'm definitely not trying to be a naysayer, but I believe it will be an uphill battle to run this on a daily driven car.

Generally if you add an adder you lose the VVT or VTEC (in a honda's case, I believe they just lock the rocker in place in them though, so it's always riding on the 3rd lobe..) in the motor. You generally don't want to change timing with a power adder, lots and lots of hassle, and you'll never get it tuned properly.

That being said, anything is possible if you have the money, Supercharger would be near impossible in an accent though, as there is just no place to put it, unless you cut a hole in your hood. With a proper turbo set-up, you will have decent low RPM power, and the beautiful thing about a turbo, if you're not using it, you're not wasting power, not putting extra load on your engine, and getting better fuel economy. Where-as a supercharger, there's always that extra draw on the engine whether you like it or not.

In the end, the PCM is always the limiting factor in any installation

I'd love to see this come together... the community will thank you for any documentation you can provide.

Are you using a turbo or a supercharger? Or are you just trying to tune for other bolt-on modifications?
