I have recently purchased an xg300 off lease. I have only had the vehicle for a month but have already run into four minors problmes

1. check engine light came on. coolant sensor. $220
2. keyless entry won't work
3. windshield washer motor quit - $100
4. air bag warning light on

Has anybody else had any or all of these problems and can offer any advice

you don't say how old your xg is. there is a recall on the air bags on models up to 2002. the wiring under the front seat needs re roughting and the air bag light will need turning off on the hyundai scanner. in severe cases the wiring loom may need replacing. your dealer should do this for free. have you changed the batteries on your key remote? sounds daft but some don't. $100 sounds alot to change a washer motor!

The xg300 is a 2001.

The service tech at the dealer said there was a recall but that it had already been serviced under the recall in 2002 and the next time was going to cost $79 for the diagnostics plus anything else. Likely $200. He's a dick.

In addition, changed the battery in the keyless entry and then it didn't work at all. light comes on when you hold down the button but it won't lock or unlock the doors or open the trunk. The dealer says he needs $39 to rescan the remote. I already said the guy was a dick.

bought a washer motor for $60 and changed it myself

Hello xg300Canada.
I read in my remote starter manual that you can reprogram your key codes into the remotes by putting the key in the ignition to on (but not start) then holding the buttons on the remotes to reprogram them.
I'm not sure if this works for everything or if it works at all.
Just thought it might help.

get the service manuals for starters.

2nd, have the dealer run you a printout of everything the manu. has done to the cars. Hyundai stores everything centrally. (as least I was told they do)

buy yourself a software based odb-ii scanner tool. http://www.obd-2.com/ is the best for the buck. excellent support and software. works with other cars too!

or go to autozone for FREE code scanning. The detailed codes are available all over the internet.

keep in mind, that you have a 4-year old used car, which you don't know how it was treated before. the best is (like with any "just bought" used car), to have a major service done. What is the miliage??
the keyless entry fob can only be programmed with the dealers Hi-scan. did you get 1 blue & 3 black keys when you bought the car ??

do the 96K km service, it includes the timing belt & tensioner replacement. Keep the blue key in a safe place, to make sure it doesn't get lost.
