Hello,

I recently purchased a 2009 Sonata and 2008 Elantra.

To use my iPod with the Sonata (to get full functionality) I needed to purchase a special cable that would connect to both the USB and Aux-In on the car. Otherwise, I effectively had a USB flash drive, with no iPod functionality.

I'm now trying to do the same thing with the Elantra. Obviously, there's only an Aux-in -- but, I'm concerned that a male-to-male Aux cable will also remove much iPod functionality. After searching on this board, I found the link to the Amazon product, but no one seems to indicate if that provides the full functionality of the ipod.

Can anyone shed some light on this? I'll purchase the Amazon cable if - in fact - that will do what I need it to do.

Thanks!

Chris

I just bought a Sonata 2009. It has the USB interface and a 3.5mm jack (aux). If I plug an iPod to the USB port, it works as Chris described, but I can control things like NEXT / Previous with the steering wheel's controls. On the display I have just something like File00 and ADCFDSS.mp3. I have information about the playing music only pressing INFO key. But this information desapears minutes after it. It is not a problem with the cable - the cable sold by Hyundai is, probably, just a iPOD/USB cable and 3.5mm/3.5mm. The problem is in the stereo system that was not designed for the iPOD.
I plugged another MP3 Player - iAudio - via USB. In this case, i have all information of the music on the display, but I cannot control the sequency (next/previous) using the steering wheel's controls.
