Ok, this might be a long post but I want to give all the details I can.

03 Elantra 2.0 DOHC auto with 102,000 miles. Started knocking, rod knock. I figured Id go ahead and drive it to the house, knock was bad but still driveable. I start on the 10 mile trip, made it 7 miles and it got hot and started lossing power, finally died. I let it sit overnight and she ran fine again minus the knock. Started driving back to the house again, 2 miles in it just died. Spins over fine still, not getting spark. Not firing at all. Ive searched and cant come up with anything thats a common issue on these cars for it not firing. Check engne light never came on either. Anyone got an idea as to where to start? I need to get it back running/firing so I can fix the rod bearing.

Seems like I read everything late. Sounds like your timing belt slipped then broke.

Timing belt not broke nor slipped. Could it be low oil pressure shutting it down? The oil pressure light goes out after it starts turning over so it has some, I just wonder if its enough.

I am also in need of a good used crank for the 2.0 DOHC engine if anyone has one. Ill buy a new rod/piston but I cant afford a new crank.
