I've had my '07 Sonata for about a year and I've been getting right around 19 MPG, sometimes a little less. This is going by the trip computer, which I reset every time I refill the tank. I mostly drive on 50 MPH roads (going about 5-7 MPH over) with some traffic lights. I thought I would be able to do better than this, but I am unable to. I will admit I do drive it *a little* hard, but not terrible. It's rated at 20/30 MPG so I would expect to get at least 20 since my driving isn't truly city driving.

What do you think? Can I do better or is that normal?

2006 GLS V6 - average 27.6 MPG since I have been manually calculating the mileage (since Feb.).. colder weather i get less than that (more like 24-25 MPG).. warmer weather i get more than that... my last tank averaged 30.4 MPG (averaged 28.9 since May)

but then i drive 95% highway, 67-70 mph, cruise control on as much as possible... if i were to drive city driving, i would probably average about 23-24 MPG..... i also dont push the car much (no jack rabbit starts or "racing", etc)..

have you changed your engine air filter? in S. Florida, im guessing the air filter gets pretty nasty.... just curious..

seems like you should get a bit higher than 19 MPG, but we really dont know you're true driving habits, only what you have said (you drive "a little hard" on the car)....

I'm getting around 24.5MPG. Mostly highway driving, but I do kind of push it. *ahem* Just recently I glanced at my GPS and it caught me doing 95... :innocent: What can I say? Nobody was around, I had the music up, and it does go a bit faster than the old Jeep :P

Thanks for the replies.

I haven't changed the air filter yet, but I am almost due (I'm at around 11,200 mi). It's always very warm here, so I'd hate to see how it would do in the cold. I will change the filter with my next maintenance.

I'd be thrilled with 22 MPG. Ah well...I'll change the air filter soon and try to be a little more gentle on the accelerator.

Thanks. :)

I was getting 24 mpg until they started using the 10% ethanol, now I am getting just under 20 mpg. Rip off!

we have had the 10% ethanol since i got the car, and im still getting 28+ MPG... i would love it if i could find a station in NJ that is NOT ethanol blended to see what i could REALLY get for mileage...

My V6, 3.3L Sonata was bought last September here in Nova Scotia. I have an avarage of 106 Km/day (65.9Miles/day)(Travelled alot; Bangor Maine, New York, Montréal x 3).
My last full tank was 10.45L/100Km (27.03Miles/IMPGls.) as also indicated by the onboard computer and calculation. My last 10 full tanks were avaraged to 9.81L/100Km (28.95Miles/IMPGls.). I regularly travell 12 Km (7.5Miles) at 95Km/H (59M/Hr.) highway and about 6 Km (3.75Miles) at average 45Km/h (27.96M/Hr.)city stop and go traffic twice a week-day.

I love my Sonata

Take a short Two Hour Tour down Alligator Alley to Naples. You

will see 30 MPG. And some gigantic Alligators too.

I only got 15.9 MPG in Miami using Hugo Chavez's finest Premium. :trophy:

I get horrible mpg's on Aligator Alley b/c everyone goes 90, and that is way too fast for max mpg's.

Oh yeah well of course  . I meant set the C/C and follow the posted limits.

Watch out for the Tribal Cops. Any Tribal Cops, Anywhere! :w00t:

The Sonata V6 loves Heat, A/C, and Highway speeds of 65-75

I drive a 2006 V6, 25miles a day and many traffic lights. I get around 22-23pmg (computer), but I tried to drive as slow as I can without interfering with normal traffic.

And I'm also in SFLA.

I have a 2006 GLS V6 and I generally average around 24-25 MPG, with around 60% of the driving coming from within the city.

I get about 19 mpg myself right now and that is with all stop and go driving (about 50 stop signs and lights each way on my 12 mile commute). If you're driving a fair amount of highway that seems a little low. But being hard on your car plus traffic lights and then it sounds close to right on.

Ugh...

Could you possibly take a look at one of the other 80 threads about 3.3 mileage?
