if the hangers dont line up its the wrong exhaust imo. i can see maybe the suspension problems on an SE cause doesnt it sit on lower springs? either way i am curious how will monroe make it work without making newly bent pipe to avoid the suspension? they can hack the hangers but not so sure about the piping itself. if they have to do new piping i would be talking to evo about a partial refund since what they sold u isnt being used...if i'm right. either way tomorrow you will have a catback on woohoo!!!!!

Yeah, I dunno. We'll see!

It prolly is the wrong exhaust (i.e. 4 door), but as long as Monro can make it work, that's all I care about.

And that's a good idea about the partial refund. I think it also helps that I got it on eBay, so I could say for instance that if they work with me and give me a partial refund, I will give them a good review. (they don't have THAT many reviews (like 100 some), so every one counts strongly towards their overall rating).

Monro says there is absolutely NOTHING they can do because it's stainless steel. They say if you bend stainless steel it will break, and they don't have the means to weld it because it takes really high temperature to weld it.

They said they could make a completely new custom catback for me, but it'd be over 600 bucks, not including installation, and would take days.

When I turned that offer down, they suggested I ship it back to the manufacturer and demand they send me the CORRECT exhaust, which I would most definitely be able to install myself.

So this is the message I sent to EF Auto USA via eBay:

QUOTE
Dear koreancarstuff,

I have left a message on your voicemail regarding the following issue as well as this message I'm sending now.

I sent one eBay message to you stating that I needed the 2-DOOR version of this catback for my Hyundai Accent before I even paid for it on eBay. I also sent 2 emails to you stating the same thing.

The catback I received is a 4-DOOR version. I had this confirmed by Monro Muffler/Brake & Service, who told me there is no possible way they could mount it on my 2-DOOR Hyundai Accent.

PLEASE send me the 2-DOOR version and give me an address to which I can send the 4-DOOR version back to you. My time-frame to install the catback is limited, so the sooner you can send me the 2-DOOR version, the better.

Thank you,
My Name
My Email
My Cell Phone Number

I also left them a voicemail and plan on calling them as soon as they open for business today.

Good plan of action?

For those of you following the epic EF Catback saga, I have a new development.

I just now noticed that someone from EF wrote this on the side of the box it came in

Accent 2 Door, huh? Hmmmmm... so I wonder if it was just a matter of the box being labeled incorrectly. Either way, they sent the wrong product, so they are obligated to refund me or send me the correct product according to their return policy
QUOTE

wow....600 bucks sounds like a bit of a rip. I've got a muffler shop that will custom bend 2.25-2.5 inch pipe and do the welds and install a Polished Stainless Muffler from Magnaflow for $250. That includes everything.

Shop around or something. $600 for a catback system is way too pricey. You could buy the one form the stealership for less...

I believe there is only one stealership model catback available for 2008 Accents... and it's from Hyundai Canada, retailing at around 800 if I remember correctly. It's what Komptek has.

When you get these quotes for the exhaust make sure it's mandrel bent. You'll also need a resonator on the mid pipe. or it will be extremely loud.

I think the fundamental problem with the exhaust you bought is that its listed for a 2000 to 2008 model. I have a feeling your exhaust would bolt right on to an LC or LC2 Accent.
