Hey guys,

New owner of a 2009 Sonata SE 2.4L. I didn't see too many pictures of the SE on the web, never able to confirm if it had a spoiler or not, but there is indeed a tiny little lip back there. :)

Hope to learn a lot and bring just as much to the table. Any recommendations for proper break-in or maintenance outside of what the Owner's Manual suggests?

Very nice. Im actually kicking around getting a SE myself. I am. however, debating between the 4 and 6. I have a 4cyl now and I get 27 mpg MAX highway. There are guys here that say they get that, and better, from their 6. I might rent a 6cyl and see if thats true. If it is Im gonna get a 6cyl

:00000732: to the forums! and congrats on your purchase.

I don't think you should drive that thing! It has to be the cleanest Sonata I have ever seen.

Welcome fellow 2.4 owner! Another "gun" to add to the fray.

You know, I like that factory grille no need to mod that one as far as I'm concerned.

As far as break-in....DON'T follow V33.

BTW the 4 is 4 (no pun intended) mostly city drivin'. That's where we really shine. :trophy:

Oh yeah, some here have paid good money for that "little" lip. No offense taken.

Looks familiar ;) I got my 08 SE a month or two back. Great choice in color and all... Though I can't agree with that 4-banger :innocent:

Congrats on the new Sonata. We are slowly taking over as I see more and more of them on the road every day. The 4th generation Sonata has to be a big seller for Hyundai. Car looks really clean hopefully you can keep it that way which is very hard to do. I had mine at a local Pontiac gathering(as I am a member of several Pontiac clubs cause I own antique Pontiacs) and everyone commented how clean the car was. About an hour later and 500 birds at my estimate, the car loked like S**t . Have fun, welcome to the forum and most of all, ENJOY YOUR NEW HYUNDAI.

Looks great! What tires are those? Mine has the Michelin Energy's and I don't like them.

Yes you do... pretty much every Sonata on the lot had it. My wife didn't like it at first, but it definitely helps define the lines of a black car.

This 4-banger actually puts out more power than my 10-year-old V6 Mazda Millenia. Not to mention the gas mileage really sold me for all the money that I would save over the life of the car. I don't plan on putting anything other than Top Tier gasoline in it after this tank of Citgo from the dealer burns up!

Comes standard with Kuhmo Solus KH16's. It ranks high in dry traction and ride comfort on Tire Rack.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Hello Mr. Cat puke, showing off his shiny new 09 and making the 06 owners feel like pond scum.

All seriousness aside, welcome aboard, and congratulations on choosing a nice ride. I hope you enoy it as much as I enjoy mine.

And don't waste money on fancy fuel, ruining the excellent cost of ownership on the 4 banger. Buy the cheapest 87 you can find, from a new-ish and busy-ish station.

Very nice car. The SE is probably what I will go with if I get another Sonata next time and not a slightly used Genesis. :) I'd opt for the V6 though. Once you drive one with that engine you'll never be satisfied with the 4 cylinder again.

Hence why I didn't even test drive one ;)

Oh, and not more than 12 hours from leaving the dealership, a screw in my left rear tire! It was probably that salesperson who tried to sell me the tire replacement warranty :rant2:

That sucks. I just recently had a nail in one of my tires. Fortunately $20 it was all patched up again. Another year it'll be time for new tires anyway. :)

It's funny you say that. You barely see any Millenia's on the road anymore yet in the past 2 weeks we have taken 4 in trade on Sonata's. Smart people :bwekk:
