So I tried to have a new system with a hands free kit installed I decided to get a backup camera while i was at it. I found two problems.

• The DVDs won't play. It never recognizes when the car is in park
• The backup camera won't kick in when it is in reverse.

I have a sneaking suspicion the problem is my 2002 and 1/2 vs a standard 2002. Does any one have any experience with this? what about the proper wiring diagrams for a 2002 1/2 Or a 2002 vs 2003 wiring diagram. Hopefully pointing out where the parking line is and where the reverse light is.

Thanks so much people!

the best advice i can give you is this site.... www.the12volt.com. its free to join and has great forums and vehicle wiring database. ive had lots of success as far as car stereo and security advice and how to on there. the guys that run it are great, you can send them a question (just make sure youve done all the homework you can) and they will either reply to the question or if you send a private message it will be answered promptly. its a great site!

you might be able to get around your problems by showing the right wires ground. just a hunch. if you can find the wires that need to show ground when in park and reverse that should do it. they both would come from the transmission i would think. just identifying them is the key.if you could find the wires on your dvd and backup cam. you could in a sense use a switch if you had to.
