Hi my santa fe will not do it as bad when it is in park just bc the idle is alittle higher, but when i put it in drive the car will sputter pretty bad. It will do it worse at times and idle good at other times. There are no codes present. Any help would be great. The car runs great while driving.

could be a number of issues. have you had any work done to it recently? does it do it on start up or just randomly during driving? is your gas mileage suffering recently?

I didn't know the 20001 model Santa Fes were out yet. I kid, I kid... :bwekk:

Sounds like it could be a bad temp sensor or idle control needs tweaking. There is another topic bobbing around (I can't find it at the moment) about just this very problem. If I find it I'll post the link here.

I had the same problem with my 2005. I took it to the dealer a couple times and the problem would not go away for several months. Occasionally the check engine light would come on but after shutting down and restarting it would automatically clear so no codes when at dealer. It did not run rough all the time but you could guarantee it would act up at least once on any trip longer than 30 miles or so. Eventually it got worse and the engine light stayed on(this time it got towed in to dealer). It turned out to be a faulty O2 sensor. Now it's running like new again...FINALLY! Good luck! Hope you get yours figured out.

Sorry for not getting back, but it threw a temp sensor code so hopefully that will be it. Thanx alot 4 the advice. Is there any way it could be the crank sensor. Like i said before still no code other then the temp sensor, also now it is getting a litte hard to start.

I know some fundamentals but what you're getting into here is pretty advanced stuff. There are many things that could be causing this and my personal opinion would be to take it to the dealer and let them diagnose it properly.

Maybe somebody else will pop in to donate some more helpful advice but that's about where I stand. Best of luck to you.
