In less than 30,000 miles, I've replace the clutch, throw out bearing, and pressure plate three times. Dealer adjuster clutch at 12,500. First replacement at 15,000 miles.
Has anyone else experienced problems like this. I do not ride the clutch

You might find this page interesting: http://www.carsurvey.org/reviews/hyundai/e...69773/comments/

I've had similar issues; had to replace the clutch at 50K and again at 75K. Only driven by my wife and myself, and neither of us have ever had to replace a clutch before (over 100K on an old Neon, which isn't exactly a piece of high quality engineering). I'm curious about what people on these forums make of the following explanation:

I did some research and found that the slave cylinder has a
small spring and plate that is designed to restrict fluid
return to the clutch fluid reservoir which in turn forces the
clutch to slip between gear shifts (apparently a deisgn to
make it 'easier' to drive - maybe if you don't a clue how to
drive a manual tranny)....

It would makes sense that a clutch designed to 'slip'
virtually every time you shift would wear down very quickly.

Sounds like a recurring issue with some Elantras.

Yeah, it's a big problem. It happened to my car at 90k. My clutch went from nice & solid to totally slipping in one shift. I didn't think about it, and went ahead and pulled the clutch and replaced it with an OEM one. Naturally, the original clutch was still in good shape, but I put the new one in anyway. When I put it back together, it still slipped like wax on ice. So I took apart the clutch hydraulic system, cleaned it out, and rebled. Voala! it worked.

The moral of the story is bleed your clutch often, especially at the first sign of slipping, you could save yourself $1000 or at least the hassle of fighting with the dealer over who burnt the clutch.

take it out and bin it, your clutch will feel smoother in operation and last much longer, the jury's out on why they fitted it in the first place.......must be a korean thing
