and i haven't changed much about my driving style.

i'm at ~160kms where i'd normally be closer to 225kms or so.

differences:

some a/c use - but not enough to guzzle that much gas.

sputtered up a hill 50' from where i was going, assume i was out of gas lol, borrowed 1/2 a gallon from a lawn mower can. straight gas, no oil in it. couldn't have been more than a few weeks old.

filled up at a different station than my usual. overfilled to the same point - so i started with the same amount of fuel.

it's been nearly 11,000kms since my last oil change. 12k km oil change interval w/ the amsoil i'm running.

that said, why am i getting crap fuel economy this tank??

I would guess that the most likely culprit is the fact that you filled up at a different station.

I know that if I fill up at my usual station, or at least at a station of the same brand, I easily get 33-36 MPG combined.

The last time I was out of town, I filled up with anther brand of gas and wound up getting the worst fuel economy since my first tank. On all highway I only got about 31 MPG.

Hi, I own a 1996 lantra with 69,000 miles on the clock. After two years of driving this car I noticed my fuel consumption was rising. A forum I came across suggested using a chemical de-carbon spray which I managed to get from a local motor shop. The spray goes into your air intake hose and cleans up anything on its path. Inside the engine it burns all the carbon deposits from valves, pistons and combustion chamber. Evidence of carbon is seen imediately through the exhaust while you doing this process. After the de-carbon I reset my ECU by removing the negative terminal of the battery + ECU fuse in hood for 10 minutes. (Make sure you warm up engine first)

Initially I thought this was one of those talked about things, however I was amazed at the perfomance of my car after this treatment. Please try it, it works wonders. My fuel economy is up by 30% plus.

was down below 1/2 a tank and filled up at my regular station... fuel economy is about back to normal. i think it was crap gas from the other station vs. a/c use or any other factor.

Is that all the American cars got for gauges? Tach, Speedo, Fuel?

Anyway, I get 450km before the needle touches empty, light doesn't come on, still have 11L of fuel in it at that point, so another ~3 gallons, half and half city/hwy. All highway I got 740km from a tank once, then decided that's enough (it was a trip) went to fill it... took 46 liters..... tank is supposably 45 liter tank... So I had 'er on the brim. Needless to say I never tried again.
