But I searched a few threads, and searched the owners manual, but does anyone know what kind of oil filter an 06 sonata v6 takes? Im basically stuck going to walmart, since the only other reputable auto place just burnt down. I don't really feel like driving 20 miles, when Walmart usually carries the same stuff and is only 2 miles away!

Thanks guys, sorry if im blind/lazy, but I did look....a little!

PS: How come I have a feeling that changing the oil on the sonata (this will be my first time) is going to be a heck of a lot more difficult then changing it on my old car- 98plymouth neon.

Come on Dude. Use the Search Box and type in Sonata Oil Filter. I will buy you

one if you don't see all the posts. Look in our 4G Board

Hey brother....can somebody get off the search box thing? Questions like this are what made the 4 vs 6 thread go 5 PAGES. We all know we have been there B4. Might as well do it again.

Theres 4 topics in the 4g board when you type in sonata oil filter. None of them state a part number, nor anyplace to buy them other then go visit your dealer....... oh, and 3/4 of them are at least from jan 06!

Does fram make one yet? I have around 20 more miles till I hit my 3k mark, and I totally didn't realize I could run into this problem.

PS: Does this mean you will buy me my filter now?!

No as it was a real problem back in 2006 when no one made them.

Now you can get them anywhere. And 2006 answers apply to a 2006

Car. I saw pages of this topic. Surely you must have found the Part #, and

are able to cross reference it with other suppliers :innocent:

Here I just found you one for $2.95. You have the I 4 right? :w00t:

Haha thanks. Right before you posted that link, I actually decided to not be lazy any more did a little more research and found some. I was freaking out thinking that I could only go back to the dealer!

Now the fun part, changing it!

Thanks for the help though, much appreciated! :amen:

20 more miles B4 3K? I'd be sweatin'. Just kidding. You can go over just be sure you make it up on the next one. From what I've read be very careful with the washers. Of course I don't have to worry 'bout that...owning a 4. I just worry about the neighbors drinking my brew. :blownose:

Hey what can I say Craig, he was right. Only Dogstar and some other Canadian

guy mentioned the part number from those mostly 2006 discussions. You don't

know what it was like being among the first American Sonata owners, (of course

buying used and all, plus your 2006 is Korean). We didn't know

where our next part would come from. Now just Google what you need &

have a servant deliver it!

Part # 26320-3C100 MSRP $6.85
Oil: 5W-20 (The only grade recommended by Hyundai)

I suggest you buy a Fram SureDrain (or EZDrain) drain plug and install it. You install it just once so you don't have to worry about washer and leaks. I have been using on both my Hyundais for about 4 years and they work great.
Checkers/Advanced Auto sells them for $15-$17

You could also try ebay, it's cheaper:
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m3...-All-Categories

I believe the part # is SD-1.
