Hey guys. Ive been recommended to try this forums to see if you can figure out something the dealership cant. First, leme explain the problem.

I have an 07 Hyundai Accent SE (hatch). Ive had it since last April, so over a year now. Last month, it started doing something funky.

When i would walk out to my car, my remote wont unlock the doors. If i try manually with my key, i can put the key IN the lock, but it wont let me turn it. Needless to say its practically frozen. Now the only thing that does work and lets me open it is the trunk. So i have to unlock the trunk, then all of a sudden, the doors will unlock without me pressing anything. Okay...weird.

So i take it to the dealership. The first step was replacing the batteries in the remote. That wasnt it. The 2nd step was reprograming both remotes. That wasnt it either.

Monday i walked out to my car, and it starts doing it again. Now, once we finally get the doors to unlock by opening the trunk, i start the car..and all the doors unlock again. If i shut the car off, the doors lock. This is me not pressing anything. But the remote STILL isnt working. So i think finally!!! I call up the dealership, the girl says bring it right in.

Well, i wasnt surprised when i bring it in and its working fine. Im about bald now. Ive come to the conclussion that it only does it when im walking out to the car in mid day (hottest). So the girl says, bring it in tomorrow (Tuesday) and leave it here all day. Well park it in the sun, and go from there.

She calls me today and says the car hasnt acted up at all. Seeing the frustration in my voice, she said she talked to the warranty officer and they want to keep it overnight and try again tomorrow. They took care of a rental car for me and ill go to pick it up Thursday.

She says they cant do anything unless they see it happen. Usual case. But i feel like im wasting my time and theres when this car REFUSES to do it there. Ive never had any other problem with this car, and no changes have been made to make it act up. Anyone have any clue?????? Thanks in advance

Edit: Also when i try to click the remote, the remote light is turning on each time. Which leads me to believe it HAS to be the car. Both remotes work the same.

Mine has done the same thing on a couple occasions. It won't respond to either remote and it's been on days when it is very hot as you have found. LED flashes on the remote(s) but the car does not respond to lock, unlock, or panic commands. It's like the keyless entry receiver is turned off. When this happens, I also try to turn the key in the driver's door twice which should activate the power locks and unlock all 4 doors but it doesn't. As soon as I put the key in the ignition and turn it to on, I can then take the key back out and the keyless works fine. It's impossible to duplicate for a dealer so I haven't even bothered with bringing it up to them.

There are several other folks here with this problem, nobody has had any resolution as far as I know. Methinks Hyundai's got some electronics flakiness they need to address. I'm really suspecting it's the body control module, that contains the keyless entry receiver and various other things that operate the power locks.

BTW, :00000732: Let us know if your dealer gets this figured out. :)

Yep that is exactly it. Nothing on the remote works but the light is responding to me pressing the buttons. Once i start it its usually fine I just dont get why all of a sudden its acting up. Its obvious its heat related (or so i think). It just drives me nuts that they cant do anything about it unless it does it there.

And thanks!! Heres hoping. 2 days in a row and they dont find anything, hubby fill FLIP :innocent:

These random, intermittent things sure are horrible to get fixed, it's frustrating. :( I always end up with something like that. :crying:

Let's hope yours acts up tomorrow!

They just called me. It didnt act up but the tech believes it was the actuator in the door locking mechanism thats causing the car to freak when it acts up. Theyre changing it tomorrow and itll be ready by Saturday morning. Hopefully this is it!

I would think it's the door locking mecha-thingy, since your key won't turn. But definitely keep us updated to whatever the dealer finds out, if anything.

since my car break in back in july, i have had the remote be unresponsive on 5 occasions. the dealership thinks when the thieves tampered with the electronic signal, it messed up the remote signal. I am having my alarm reset when i get the time and is feeling better (currently fighting off a bladder infection)
