I have a 2008 Accent with only 4000 miles on it. Today it did not want to crank up. When it finally did, it "sounded" funny ( a knocking noise) and the check engine light is on. I drove it and did not have any more problems and will take it to the dealer tomorrow but I am concerned. Any one else have this happen to them?

I have not had this problem.

It could be any number of things, bad gas, fouled plugs, clogged air filter etc...

Did you check the fluids and basic stuff? Does it crank ok and run after you ran it some or does the problem repeat?

Ray

yeah all that is good. Didn't have a bit of problem after it started, just the c/e light is still lit. Hopefully it's nothing major as I have a long commute and I sure enjoy the gas mileage the "skittle" gets.

They do have a service bulletin out for rough running after a cold start. Not sure if that applies in your case but the dealer should be able to tell ya. They had some updated programming that corrected a few issues.

UPDATE. Naturally the check engine light went out as soon as I got off work to go to the dealership. But I went anyway and the tech said that it could have been a little water in the gas or an engine misfire (the machine showed zilch) and if it happens again to bring it back in. So hopefully it was a sudden glitch.
Note to Ray: Yes I live in the Senatobia area...home of muddy Ford pick-ups!

I grew up around the Grenada area and had some family in the Senatobia area for a while but they moved several years ago. Have a niece starting Northwest this semester. Live in the Jackson area now. Will be up Memphis way this weekend to visit friends and go to Graceland (finally) and Costco.

Hope your problem was just a one time glitch.
