Doing this might actually make it not a ram air but a CAI and have it inside the engine if done right.

We need high temp thermal tape. We need to Fab a box for the filter and the tube that is under our intakes that the old filter box used to run it. If we can seal the large filter we have I think maybe we could get better air. What do you think? It's a much larger filter than the old one.

I wonder if we could somehow use the old filter box.. Ideas ideas ideas :)

With that tube being the only one bringing air in,sealing a larger filter would simply flow identical to the stock airbox. The only difference would be a possible very, very slight increase in the flow of the aftermarket filter on top end.As the flow area of the factory filter was sufficient for all the flow the engine needed, the tube was the restriction. You would be just as well off to drill /cut larger holes in factory box bottom (i.e. Ghetto Box),and getting a panel filter. :57:

the suggestion is good, but ive spent almost 4 hours today trying to get rid of the "whine".. and i cant find anything..

what kind of filter/intake to you have.. ?

the sound doesnt come from the filter.. because i tried 3 different cones today and neither helped...

do you still have your stock intake box or did you re-locate/remove it?

it's not the intake that we want to stop.. the deep sound is awesome and thus the point of the intake... but theres a tiny blowing sound that you hear when its on.. (kind of like when you blow in a coke bottle to make noise.) thats the best way i can describe it..

o.O what? if you have that sound then you did it wrong. my car just has a hissing sound... thats it. and when its cold it sound even better cuse the intake is fighting for air to warm up the engine. even still why would you want to get rid of the noise? it makes the car sound aggressive and like it has a bit more then the advertised 110 ponies

Sounds like that whine noise would be annoying... The Accent has asthma!

I never noticed the noise on my intake aside from the sucking in of air that is usually the loudest when i first start it up in the morning.. Even after reading this i paid close attention to see if i could make it out.. nope, didn't hear a sound.

I asked Tyler if he noticed any whining sound and he told me he's never heard it. If anything he says it sounds deeper and one time while driving next to me, complemented the sound.

She has the one available through Hyundai, not a homemade intake.

There's a pic of it in her car's garage entry: http://www.hyundai-forums.com/index.php?&a...ID=1622&CID=578

i think the Kat Aem intake wont make wine sound may be of the Magnaflow Muffler that she installed because of the air flow of going in and out that my theory

What filter?

My Weapon R install has the factory breather rubber tube going to the intake pipe.
No filter came with factory parts...

Exactly. I think it's been determined that the whine isn't from the intake, but is actually from the transmission or something like that. There's a thread about it somewhere on here.

The only thing I ever notice is that when I reach 6,000-6,500 RPM, there's a LOUD hissing/sucking sound. It almost sounds like a (slow-motion) blowoff valve.

I would assume the sound I'm hearing is either me slowly destroying a gasket, or just my car bein all badass and stuff. Hopefully it's not bad. There are times when you do need to absolutely floor it, though, so whatevs.

He is not taking about the Weapon R, again he's talking about a CUSTOM SRI, this one
(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v125/Roguewardom/INTAKE/DSC_0951.jpg)
and that little filter i believe, may be the cause of that wine.
