Ok first off before the pictures. You guys really rock for your help and without you I don't think I could of done this.

Besides the awesome sound the best thrill tonight for me was watching my wife take a seat in the drivers seat since really the Accent is HER car. (we both share it but it is HER CAR)

We drive down the quarter mile drive way (which has lots of S turns max speed is 35 but your pushing it...) She knew I was installing something knew it was supposed to give the car more power or growl. Well she stepped on it a little bit in the drive way and got a smile on her face but couldn't do more because she didn't want to wake my parents. (we all live on a big farm best way to save money) anyways...

She gets to the main road and turns right.. me: "Gun it" Her: "OK"

She mashes the gas and I mean GETS ON IT at 4500 to 5000 RPM the cars shifting you can feel it and the growl of the engine is purrring it's like sex. I look over at her and she has the BIGGEST smile on her face and I haven't seen her smile that big for a month or two. She is thrilled to say the least. Did I mention she's really really liked to ride with me at 130 + for 195 miles.... (another car)

She loves it guys and without you I couldn't of done it. Thank you for helping to give my wife something she really can enjoy when she's in her car!

The camera is a Nikon D40 with a zoom lens.

Without further a due the pictures:

I really think pay it forward is a good idea.

So for the people that want to do this.

First just take off the engine cover and take the black hose part and that little PVC part comp was talking about is connected where I now have the LITTLE tiny air filter. Just get some pliers and squeeze the clamp together on the hose and drag it up while holding the clamp down. What your doing is dragging it off this "nipple" that the hole is on. Then you can take a screw driver or panel remover (I used a small panel remover). Just py till you get it off and take your time. Remember anything you take off you want to save in a safe place..

Ok now that you have that off and the black hose off you remove your old air filter by popping the top off the box for the filter. Then unlike me you set it aside (funny story in a bit) Pull your air filter out. Unless your making brackets or having someone make them it's time to install your intake. Just put the pipes together and use the parts listed:

I would goto autozone and ask them to help you find them. What they do is look up the part #'s if they are in stock they add them the what your buying then once everything is done they go find it.

I'm so tired I forgot to say whats funny about the story:

Quote:

Then unlike me you set it aside (funny story in a bit) Pull your air filter out

End Quote.

OK I set the filter cover inside the hood and forgot about it. My car being black it blended. So after doing the 15 mins worth of work. (it's that easy!)
I got finished and excited and tryed to shut the hood.

The hood wouldn't shut and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why. I'm a new dad so i'm really busy / tired all the time but it's worth it.

Well I decide to see how it sounds and turn the car on and it sounds awesome. I run in and tell my wife she needs to get off the laptop and out of bed and come hear it. Well she does and loves the sound from the garage. She said she didn't think the hood would shut and I told her no it wouldn't and showed her. Then I put the hood back up and the stand back in so it would stay up. She grabs the filter cover and says "try now"

It shuts... ::blushes:: Boy did I feel really small! haha

Btw thanks you 2 :)

Tomorrow I'm masking off the engine cover btw quoting my wife "You touch the silver your a dead man!" So I'm painting the black part around it with Krylon fusion Blue.

I'm trying to decide if I want to use SEM self etching primer first or not. I know fusion is supposed to bond to it it but I'm a little leery. I still need to lightly sand it down though.

hey guys,

so your post on this intake made me join the forums... thanks for that...

anyways i made this install today.. its decent (didnt realize the pipe is actually a plastice chrome,.... ) sounds great and hits hard in third gear.. which is nice... but i hear a whine coming from it .. i heard i shouldnt worry bout it.. but ive been fiddling trying to make it stop.. because quite frankly... ITS ANNOYING!! ..

just wondering your thoughts on it?
(btw.. super fast and easy install.. thanks for the thread)

as far as I know the whine is unavoidable. I think it is coming from the particular bends in the pipe and the diameter. The air is obviously creating a nice frequency coming through the filter and such. Just turn the radio up and you won't notice it, lol. Trust me, you'll get used to it.

Glock...you need to remove the air box and make your own ECU/ECM bracket. It's REALLY easy also. Hardest part is bending the piece of steel. Get you a 12" piece of steel from the lumber section at home depot, mark your holes, drill them, and bend it at a 90 degree angle making sure your holes line up. That will eliminate that big nasty box your intake is resting on. Also allowing more air to reach to filter.

Glad I could help!

think i might have to go put mine back on...i miss that sound....the wife hates the growl...hehe

and as far as the whine..its the intake...either live with it and enjoy the extra power and sound of the intake or put the stock back on and move on.....only two choices.....

nice write up and pics!
