I painted the chrome on the hood and all the emblems. I like it but will be buying a badgeless grill soon. After much debate I have decided NOT to put nitrous on my car. I simply just owe to much on it and need it to get to and from work/school everyday and can't afford it blowing up on me. Sorry guys! Instead I am going to get the Duraflex body kit for the Sonata, Halo projectors and redo my exhaust system. Most of us here including myself have just pulled out the resonator and threw mufflers on. I'm going to get rid of that 3rd cat, redo all the piping and use a magnaflow Y-pipe going to 2 Borla turbo mufflers. One question I have does anyone here think I should open up the piping to 3" instead of the stock 2.5"? Well enjoy the pix! I agree, 3" is way too big for this engine. Likely, if you do that, you'll lose low end torque. You might pick up a few HP but that's not what you want on the low end.
Even just shortening the length will cause that same effect. I did that on one of my Mustangs, I shortened the exhaust by roughly three feet and put single chamber Flowmasters on it with dumps - very noticeable torque loss off the line ... but it sounded great ! :w00t: I also got rid of the cats and installed an X-pipe at the same time. That's because I only used it off-road. :whistling:

QUOTE(chasebadkids @ Aug 16 2008, 05:07 PM) can you tell me exactly what kind of paint to get? did you have to sand the chrome at all or anything? where do I buy the tint for the lights?
Not sure what kind he used but when I painted my engine cover I used Krylon Fusion. Made just for painting plastic (even chrome plated plastic) with no sanding at all. Of course it paints all kinds of other textures as well.

QUOTE(v33sonata @ Aug 17 2008, 01:24 PM) I used krylon but i needed to repaint today i need to re-sand the chrome I dint the 1st time. I am still up in the air about the front emblem being painted also. Also I agree 3" is too big thansk for the input guys. Dogstar: Dura-a-flex is the same as the razzi kit but cheaper. and apperantly bends better
Was it Krylon Fusion or regular Krylon ? @ chase - yep, it's a spray on deal. Easy to use and come in an ~8 oz. can if I remember right. I last used it about 18 years ago on a Mustang.

Idk about him and his krylon fusion, I went to home depot and they said they dont carry that stuff becaue it boltches and clumps and isnt a good spray paint, so i bought two other brands, one dark gray primer, and then a flat black taht can withstand heat, since the front grille is near the radiator, duh. :-P
i actually just spray painted my chrome and came upstairs to check the forums, so gotta let it dry now =p

I'm the one that used the Fusion when I painted my engine cover. The guy at Home Depot is full of crap, I can tell you that. It works like a champ. Made specifically for painting plastics and it works as advertised. Not fish-eyes, peeling, or anything on the engine cover - even in that very hot environment. Absolutely zero sanding, just a good cleaning is all that is required. I painted the two new horns that I bought this weekend with it, and they were chrome plated plastic. Same results, flawless finish. With all the plastics on cars today, Fusion is the best thing since sliced bread for me.

QUOTE(chasebadkids @ Aug 17 2008, 08:51 PM) heh, i just put on my black coat, looks a little light colored for me but we'll see.
Which horns did you buy? I want some train horns for my sonata, where should i get em? :-)
I got a dual set of Stebels, but not for the Sonata - for our other car. I have the Stebel Nautilus on the Sonata. If you want train horns get them from www.hornblasters.com - be prepared to do some retrofitting though. :) The are, by FAR, the loudest you can get.
