Hi all
Need some advice with regards to the microphone location for my Bluetooth. I have the AVIC Z2 (with Z3 image) installed in my 06 Sonata.
Some people are complaining that there is an echo with the unit, I have found that just turning down the volume solves that issue but my major concern is that quite a few people complain that I sound so far away.
I have tried moving the mic, but does not seem to help much. If I move right up to the mic to talk, then it sounds ok.
I was just wondering if it is normal for it to sound like one is far away from the mic, or if perhaps my mic is just not all that good….
Can someone also let me know where they have placed their mic’s or if they have run into similar situations.
Thanks

Hey Kouger,

I have the Kenwood Excelon 8120 w/ built in bluetooth. The microphone is located in the upper left corner of the car to the left of my sun visor. The wire is run up the pillar where our tweeters are and is clipped up near the top corner of the windshield. Everyone I have talked to on this unit has told me it sounds like I have a bluetooth earpiece in and I sound close. It may be location, but alot of times if my A/C is blasting all the way it interferes with my mic so I just turn the fan down and it sounds fine.

I don't have to scream or anything for them to hear me. I talk at a pretty normal volume as if i had the phone to my ear.

Also look into the call volume on the phone itself. I have to turn my volume on my phone about half way up and set my head unit volume to a certain volume to optimize the call quality of both my voice and the caller's voice coming through my speakers..

Hope this helps a little.

I am looking for the same thing :)

I have a Pioneer FH-P800BT double din unit in the car now and have all the wires pulled through the dash, just need to find the best place to mount it.

What did you use to clip it with? Any sags in the wire or did you put something in there to keep the wires tight?

thanks
