QUOTE(normandelli @ Aug 15 2008, 07:38 AM) I can answer this definitively. NO it's not.

Ok I'll bite! What do you mean? That the camber isn't adjustable on the Sonata?

QUOTE(ddix1026 @ Aug 15 2008, 11:13 AM) erm.. hate to disagree with you..
1. Sonata uses Grand Touring tires.. (at least the OEM Michelin's are) - not sure if you have Hankook's or not, but the sh*t "Energy MX4" tires are touring....
2. I have 45k miles on my car (OEM tires) and they still have maybe just under half-tread left.. so they could go another 15k - 20k miles on them unless something drastic happens.. (that said, i won't LET them go another 20k miles simply because i dont like them)
i do, however, agree that better roads = longer lasting tires.. i guess since im all highway (minimum amount of potholes/bumps) mine will tend to last longer.. but i have no idea where the person before me drove the car...
Your tires are 16 inch tires, mines are v rated 17 inch tires. I do more city driving than you so my tires i worn downed due to stop and go traffic, yours are still good because the highway system you use, in california there are plenty roads that need to repaired where i live.

well, true you're are 17's and mine arent, but even the 17" OEM Michelin's are touring tires.. (i assume you have the Pilots?) - and even the 16's are V rated... but im sure your roads are worse than mine.. even with that, if i only got 20k miles on a set of tires, i would be extremely p*ssed off.. (i drive that much in 1 year, cant afford to replace each year)..

We've got 17" Michelins, just turned 28k on the clock, and she's over 3 years old - well over half the tread left. Our driving is 99% stop-and-go. Like Bean said, camber is the problem.
A really easy way to check this just to get a rough idea ... with your wheels pointed straight ahead get a tape measure and check the distance between the tires, in the middle, in the front. Then do the same on the back side of the tires. You'll likely see the measurement between the back sides to be longer than the front sides. Some positive camber is to be expected, but too much causes too much wear on the outsides of the tires. If camber is at zero you car will usually wander all over the road. Negative camber also causes "some" wandering and wears the inside of your tires.

QUOTE(idiom @ Aug 17 2008, 09:10 AM) I have one of the front Tires Outside Worn Down. Visited 2 shops. One of them said it has only caster issue, other one said strut & fork. And here I saw it could be also axle. But I'm going to install adjustable ball joint. Hope that will fix it.
What do you guys think?
Hey idiom, what shops did you take it too? Dealership or Independent? I can't say on the balljoint question because I ain't got a clue! :) Paul

2 dealers. Question is: Will bent strut issue fixed by adjustable ball joint(Camber fix)?
